because it exists therein. Is it also not other, and is it not the very not other? Thus he asks. Is the next world the very same as this world, and is it not not the same? This is the fourth specific question. The next world is the very same as this world, and it is also not the same, because both that and not that exist together, so he asks, is it both that and not that? To that, the first question is mainly about this very suchness. The second is mainly about otherness itself. The third is the equality of otherness itself and non-otherness itself. The fourth is to know that that itself and not that itself are equal. The instigation for this is that, in the treatises of the Vaibhashikas, those heretics who say to abandon gods and humans are inferior and dull-witted, unable to contradict the words of others, and it is not good to hold onto one part, thinking that if one holds onto one part, the other party will be displeased and harmed, and I will abandon being born as a god, so I would rather say things that disagree with me. If someone comes to me and asks, "Is there a next world?" I will answer him, "There is a next world." If he asks, "Is there no next world?" I will answer him, "There is not." If he asks, "Is the next world both existent and nonexistent?" I will answer him, "It is both existent and nonexistent." If he asks, "Is the next world neither existent nor nonexistent?" I will answer him, "It is neither existent nor nonexistent." Like this, just asking about existence, and those differences, extensively explained in this way, observe in that way, and speak in that way. Such a view of annihilation, because of the widespread ignorance, is a synonym for saying permanence and annihilation, and saying self. The aspect of defiled views has been explained. Person, pudgala, refers to sentient beings. Experiencing separately refers to experiencing happiness and suffering. "Arising from a cause previously done" refers to the cause of previous actions.

It arises from karma. The term "purified by asceticism" means purified by intense ascetic practices. The term "prevented by water without action" means preventing entry without further exertion. The term "without leakage" means not engaging in any actions. The term "end of suffering" means nirvana. The instigator of this is that in the treatises of the Vaibhashikas, the Tirthikas (non-Buddhists) consider actions meaningless, and upon seeing people who do not engage in actions being wealthy, having much wealth, and enjoying great prosperity, they think to themselves that whatever a person experiences individually, all of that arises from causes done in the past. Old karma is purified by asceticism, and new karma is prevented from arising by water without action. In this way, there will be no leakage in the future. If there is no leakage, then karma is exhausted. If karma is exhausted, then suffering is exhausted. If suffering is exhausted, then there will be an end to suffering. Thus, they see it in this way and speak in this way. If that is the case, and these followers of the Dharma also believe that it arises from causes done in the past, then why do they not become a form of view, while the Tirthikas become a form of view? Some of these followers of the Dharma also believe that it arises from causes done in the past, while others believe that it arises from the efforts of the present person. Therefore, they do not become a form of view. The Tirthikas, however, believe that everything arises from causes done in the past, and they become a form of view. The term "this Dharma is like that" is a synonym for denigrating the efforts of a person, purification through asceticism, and denigrating wisdom. The form of view of the naked ascetics has been explained. The abode of the Tirthikas, the term Tirthika refers to those who have a path to liberation by entering the rivers. Their abode is a synonym for the abode of dependent arising. "True Victorious One" is the name of the teacher. "Not long after appearing" means just appeared. "True establishment" means dwelling in solitude. "Amazing" is a word of exclamation. After a long time.

The earth, repeated twice for reverence. "In accordance with the Dharma" means goodness. "Meditation" means thinking about the meaning of virtue. "The senses are satisfied" means nourished by samadhi. "Appearance" means the eyes and other senses are gentle and peaceful. "Those with qualities" refers to precepts and so on. "Renunciation with a true intention," where "true" means being free from false words. Therefore, whoever has a true intention, his renunciation is renunciation with a true intention. "All dharmas arise from the basis of non-harming" means taking non-harming as the main thing, and non-harming means abandoning killing. This shows the abandonment of harming sentient beings, which in turn arises from compassion, thus showing that the chief of all virtuous dharmas is compassion. "Peaceful" means for the sake of good deeds. "Without old age" means being free from aging. "Immortality" means having the nature of not dying. "Without decay" means temporarily without decay. "Dwelling" means possessing existence. "Nirvana" means extinguishing the fire of afflictions. "Nomenclature" means not different causes, but expressing the same meaning with different words. "That is Brahma" means that Nirvana is Brahma, because it is ultimate virtue and without suffering, which is a concluding statement. "One should strive for the Brahma world" means that in order to be born in the Brahma world, one should strive at all times. "Descending into the Brahma world" means striving diligently to obtain it. "Already descended into the Brahma world" means not abandoning diligent effort. "The Brahma world is also like that," where the word "also" indicates conviction. The word "like that" means similar. Therefore, here the Brahma world also...
