It is because of entering (the path). To slander the practice of the four paths is also a wrong view that slanders the noble path, and it is to be abandoned by seeing the path. In order to show those differences, it is said what needs to be done in this life, and so on. "Which ones" refers to the Arhats. "In this very life" refers to the present life itself. "By one's own direct perception" means knowing by oneself. "This world and the other world" refers to this life and the next life, or the karma to be experienced in this life, the karma to be experienced after birth, and the karma to be experienced in other times. "Having directly realized" means having directly known, which shows that knowing is direct realization. "Accomplished" means having knowledge, which shows that the attainment of knowledge is direct realization. "We are" means us. "Birth is exhausted" shows the truth of suffering. "Brahmacharya has been lived" means practicing the noble path, which shows the truth of the path. "What had to be done has been done" means abandoning afflictions, which shows the truth of cessation. "There is no more return to any state of being" refers to the existence of karma, which shows the truth of origin. "To make known" means to make known. What does it make known? It makes known that we are exhausted of birth, Brahmacharya has been lived, what had to be done has been done, and there is no more return to any state of being. Thus, "I am exhausted of birth" and so on, shows that the Arhats know the exhaustion and non-arising. Thus, this wrong view of slandering the knowledge and vision of the Arhats is to be abandoned by seeing the path. Its motivation is said to be that this way of looking at reason and equanimity arises in the treatises of the Vaisheshika school. Among them, some rationalists see things as permanent, stable, eternal, unchanging, without old age and death, and not destroyed by old age and death, and then

Thinking thus: all things are permanent, stable, eternal, unchanging, without aging and death, and not destroyed by aging and death. Therefore, those who have attained the Arhat state in the world, with their own present wisdom, personally realize this world and the other world, and proclaim: 'We have exhausted rebirth, practiced Brahmacharya, done what should be done, and know nothing else.' Those who claim that there are no such people, they think that way, and say that way. Those who enter into Samadhi, through Samadhi attain the first Dhyana, and those who attain the second Dhyana, and even the realm of neither perception nor non-perception, because they have not experienced those realms, therefore, the thought of Arhat arises in that first Dhyana. When they completely fall away from those realms and see themselves reborn in the desire realm or the first Dhyana, they will think: there are no Arhats in the world. Therefore, those who have attained the Arhat state in the world, with their own present wisdom, personally realize this world and the other world, and proclaim: 'We have exhausted rebirth, practiced Brahmacharya, done what should be done, and know nothing else.' They think that way, and say that way. If it is said that giving and so on do not exist, then what is the reason for these non-existences? Therefore, life lives in the present, and afterwards it will be cut off and destroyed, and there will be no more after death. They say this because life lives in this life, and afterwards that life will be cut off and exhausted by the nature of consciousness, and destroyed and dissipated by the nature of form. After death, both the nature of consciousness and the nature of form will disappear and there will be no more, or the action will be cut off and the body will be destroyed, and there will be no more rebirth after death. Therefore, giving and so on do not exist, that is their conclusion. Then

If asked, where will it go? Therefore, the human body is composed of the four great elements. When death occurs, the body of earth merges into earth, the body of water merges into water, the body of fire merges into fire, and the body of wind merges into wind. The senses then follow after space. The corpse of a person is carried by a bed and five people, taken to the cemetery and burned, until it disappears from sight. What is to be burned turns to ashes. The bones remain resembling the color of pearls. Some say that if I am ultimately cut off, then where will this human body go? The human body is compounded from the four great elements, and at the time of death, the four great elements merge into the four great elements. The senses, such as the eyes, merge into space. The nature of the senses' appearance, when separated from the great elements of dependence, then follows after the clear nature of the space realm, just as when a tree falls, birds fly into the sky. The corpse is carried by the bed on which the corpse is placed and the four people who carry the bed, a total of five people, and taken to the cemetery to be burned until it disappears from sight. What is to be burned, such as blood and flesh, turns to ashes. The remains after burning, the oily bones such as teeth, remain resembling the color of pearls, and those without oil resemble the color of conch shells. Such is the going of a human being. Therefore, the body of the doer, the eater, and the knower is destroyed here, and does not go to the next world. Therefore, there is no profound fruition, no giving, and so on. Then, how are the three, giving and receiving, explained? Therefore, it is said thus, therefore, it is good to explain that ignorance approaches giving, and to explain that the wise approach giving. Ignorance refers to foolishness. Approaching explanation refers to some people initially urging giving, which is ignorance, because some people initially heed the urging and give in a way that is unhelpful. The wise refers to those with wisdom.
