If one conceals and accuses a fault from endurance to view, it is a downfall. Similarly, even in doubt, if one thinks that no remaining fault has occurred, and conceals it up to the view, and accuses with a downfall, it is also a downfall. If one thinks that a fault has occurred from no fault, and one who doubts, each has one misdeed. If one says that the remaining fault has occurred, there is no fault. The fifty-fourth downfall is complete. At that time, the Teacher was dwelling in Shravasti. At that time, in a place called Champa, there was a young weaver. He went to Shravasti and took a wife. Not long after taking a wife, he had a quarrel with his wife, and the weaver prepared to go to Champa. Sbomba met a woman on the road. The weaver asked Sbomba where she was going, and Sbomba said she was going to Champa. The weaver said, "Then let's go together." So they went together. The weaver's wife came out on the roof and saw them walking together. She shouted loudly, "This shaven-headed ascetic is seducing my husband!" The people of the city chased and beat Sbomba. Sbomba went to the nuns with her eyes swollen, and the nuns said, and the process of establishing the precepts, was the same as before. Also, if a nun walks on the road with a man, even if it is just to go to another village, it is a downfall. If a nun walks on the road with a man, within half a yojana, it is a misdeed. If it exceeds one yojana, it is a downfall. For the sake of showing the way, or because one does not know the way and walks together, there is no fault. The fifty-fifth downfall is complete. Briefly stated: many guests, thieves, digging and guests and learning, fighting and not speaking, walking, disrespect, drinking alcohol, untimely. At that time, the Teacher was dwelling in Shravasti. At that time, the nun Sbomba was walking with many merchant guests on a small road, and was chased by stick-holders and stone-throwers, and in order to avoid the road of the stick-holders, they walked on the small road, and they said, "This nun is the one!" So they beat Sbomba. After being beaten, Sbomba returned to the monastery,

After the nuns spoke, everything until the establishment of the precepts is the same as before. Furthermore, if any nun travels on the road with many robbers, she commits a Patayantika offense. The differences between the severity of the offense and the order of what is allowed and not allowed are the same as before. The fifty-sixth Patayantika offense is complete. When the Teacher was in Shravasti, the Six Groups of monks had people dig the ground themselves, and Brahmins and householders ridiculed them, saying, "What is the difference between these ascetics and us?" From the ridicule to the establishment of the precept "Dig a little," and the Twelve Groups of monks saying, "It is not for our sake," and digging the ground and having people dig it, and the ridicule of those with few desires, everything until the establishment of the precept is the same as before. Furthermore, if any monk digs the ground with his own hands or has people dig it, he commits a Patayantika offense. There are two types of "ground": firm and not firm. If firm ground is dug more than four fingers wide, it is a Patayantika offense. If non-firm ground is dug, it is a Dukkata offense. If stones are dug or heavy things are dug in a place with much soil and little sand, it is a Patayantika offense. If there is much sand, it is a Dukkata offense. Driving in a stake is a Patayantika offense. Pulling out a stake is a Dukkata offense. Driving a stake into the hole where a stake was driven is also a Dukkata offense. Demolishing a building without walls or a roof is a Patayantika offense. Demolishing a building with a roof or pillars is a Dukkata offense. Knocking down stacked things, wiping away accumulated dust, moving mud or having people move mud, or drawing lines on the ground without meaning are all Dukkata offenses. Other similar situations can be added in detail. The fifty-seventh Patayantika offense is complete. When the Teacher was in Shravasti, at that time, Shakya Mingchen invited the Buddha and the Sangha of monks and their retinue for four months. After the four months were over, the Six Groups of monks were unwilling to leave and stayed there. The Blessed One established the precept that one should not possess food and not leave beyond the time of the invitation. The Twelve Groups of monks said, "It is not for our sake," and stayed and possessed food beyond the time of the invitation. The nuns with few desires ridiculed them, and the Blessed One taught and established the precept, everything until "the establishment of the precept" is the same as before. After being invited for four months, the nun possesses it. If she possesses it beyond this time, she commits a
