Digging ditches to release water, and knowingly releasing water when there are creatures on dry land, causing the death of creatures, then for each creature that dies, one commits a downfall. The eighteenth downfall is complete. It is said that when the Teacher was in Shravasti, the Blessed One told the monks about the seven objects of merit arising from material things, and Spomga thought that I should also build a temple. She taught the Dharma in this way to a Brahmin woman, causing her to generate faith and build a temple similar to the previous one. That night, it rained and destroyed everything. The donor Brahmin woman and the nuns with few desires were ridiculed, and until the precepts were established, it was the same as before. If a nun builds a large temple, she should build doors and fixed places, and two or three layers of alternating mud and bricks. Building beyond this number of layers will result in a downfall. A temple is a place that has four codes of conduct. Large means that the scale and value are very large. Building two or three layers, and building beyond this number of layers will result in a downfall, which means that if two or three layers are built before they are dry, building beyond this number of layers will result in a downfall. There is no fault in having many layers like a vajra. If the donor says to build quickly, there is no fault. The nineteenth downfall is complete. A brief explanation is: common dwelling and burden, abandoning and leading others to abandon, gathering and placing out of season, and so on from the mouth to the throat. It is said that when the Teacher was in Shravasti, a householder who believed in the naked sect of non-Buddhists built a large alms house for the ascetics of the four directions. Later, some naked sect people lived there, and the Six Groups of monks came there, beat and drove away the naked sect people, and the householder and Brahmins ridiculed them. Therefore, the Blessed One established the precept that if one stays overnight in a common dwelling, one can only eat one portion of food and not eat more. The virtuous nuns also did the same. The Twelve Groups of monks said that this was not established for us, so they ate a lot of food, and the nuns with few desires ridiculed them, so the precepts were established.

As before, in between. Having spent the night in a common dwelling, if a bhikkhuni eats one serving of rice, and eats more than that, she commits a patayantika offense. A common dwelling is one that is built so that any renunciate who comes may dwell there. If a bhikkhuni dwells in a common dwelling for more than one night, she commits one misdeed for each night. If she eats more rice, she commits one patayantika offense for each serving of rice. If she dwells there and eats rice elsewhere, she commits a misdeed for dwelling there, but there is no offense for eating elsewhere. If she dwells elsewhere and eats rice there, she commits a patayantika offense. There is no offense for dwelling elsewhere. The twentieth patayantika offense is complete. When the Teacher was in Sravasti, a householder's son married seven wives, but they all died in the same way, so no one would give him a daughter. A householder had a daughter who was blind in her right eye, and she was given to that widowed man. When the right-eye-blind woman was being taken as a bride, Sthulanananda also went there to beg for alms, and they said, "Please wait a moment." Sthulanananda said, "The right-eye-blind woman will also become my sister, please give her to me." And they gave her whatever she wanted. After that, Sthulanananda sent twelve groups to beg, and gave them in the same way. The materials for taking the bride were exhausted, and the widowed young man made excuses and did not take her, and her parents and others ridiculed and slandered her, and complained, "Establish a rule!" As before, in between. If many bhikkhunis enter houses, if those Brahmins or believing householders want to give flour or grain or timely things, those bhikkhunis should take enough to fill two or three bowls. If they beg for more than that, they commit a patayantika offense. Having begged enough to fill two or three bowls, they should go to an external monastery and eat themselves, and also share with the assembled bhikkhunis, and that is the proper time. Belief is faith in the Three Jewels. Two or three full bowls means that there are three kinds of bowls: large, medium, and small. The large one can hold five full measures of Magadha dry rice cooked with rice and vegetables. The small one can hold three and a half measures of cooked rice and
