If one takes off (གཏན་པ, stāpana, stāpana, lit. "fixture") clothing out of season, it is a Nissaggiya Pacittiya. What is meant by taking off (གཏན་པ, stāpana, stāpana, lit. "fixture") clothing out of season? What is the season for taking off (གཏན་པ, stāpana, stāpana, lit. "fixture") clothing? It is from the first day of the last month of autumn (ninth month in the Tibetan calendar) to the middle month of spring (fourth month in the Tibetan calendar). This is the season for taking off (གཏན་པ, stāpana, stāpana, lit. "fixture") clothing. After that, it is out of season. "Taking off" means through the act of solicitation and two karmas. "Nissaggiya Pacittiya" means abandoning the object and confessing the offense. What is the fault in this? If a Bhikkhuni takes off (གཏན་པ, stāpana, stāpana, lit. "fixture") even a little clothing out of season, it will all become a Nissaggiya Pacittiya. If a Bhikkhuni takes it off because she is being robbed by thieves, there is no offense. The twenty-second Nissaggiya Pacittiya is complete. The Teacher was residing in Sravasti. The Teacher instructed the Bhikkhunis not to take off (གཏན་པ, stāpana, stāpana, lit. "fixture") clothing out of season. Therefore, Thullananda could not take off (གཏན་པ, stāpana, stāpana, lit. "fixture") clothing even when it was the season, because she became the object of that. After reporting this to the Teacher, everything was the same as before until the establishment of the precept. Furthermore, if a Bhikkhuni does not take off (གཏན་པ, stāpana, stāpana, lit. "fixture") clothing even when it is the season, it is a Nissaggiya Pacittiya. "Bhikkhuni if" refers to Thullananda, or anyone else like her. What is meant by "not taking off (གཏན་པ, stāpana, stāpana, lit. "fixture") clothing in season"? What is the season for taking off (གཏན་པ, stāpana, stāpana, lit. "fixture") clothing? It is from the first day of the last month of autumn (ninth month in the Tibetan calendar) to the fifteenth day of the middle month of spring (fourth month in the Tibetan calendar). "Not taking off" means through the act of solicitation and two karmas. "Nissaggiya Pacittiya" means abandoning the object and confessing the offense. What is the fault in this? If a Bhikkhuni does not take off (གཏན་པ, stāpana, stāpana, lit. "fixture") the fixed clothing when it is the season, it will all become a Nissaggiya Pacittiya. The twenty-third Nissaggiya Pacittiya is complete. "Betting with a sign" means that in Sravasti there was a goldsmith who took a wife from a family of equal status. The goldsmith thought, "I should test whether this wife is suited to household life or not." So he placed a golden wheel in front of her and left. Then Thullananda entered the goldsmith's house in the morning for alms, and the goldsmith had his daughter give her food. When she came out, she saw the golden wheel and thought, "Throw away this inauspicious thing! I will take it first, and then take the medicine for food, the gold for the medicine for food."

Said, "Give it to me." That woman didn't say anything either. Sbomdagamo said, "Saying nothing is a sign of agreement." She took the golden wheel and left. That goldsmith came again and asked, "What happened to the golden wheel?" The girl said, "A renunciate came and took it away." The goldsmith grabbed Sbomdagamo and asked, "Why did you steal my gold?" Sbomdagamo said, "I don't take what is not given to me." Having said that, she threw it in his face, and the goldsmith beat Sbomdagamo's face severely, mocked her, and made unpleasant noises. Having reported what happened to the Teacher, he established the precepts. Furthermore, if a bhikshuni begs by pledging a symbol (藏文:མཚན་མ།), it is a nissaggiya pacittiya. What is meant by pledging a symbol (藏文:མཚན་མ།) is gold and silver. The rest is the same as before. What is the fault in that? If a bhikshuni goes to as many households as possible and takes what has been pledged with a symbol (藏文:མཚན་མ།), all of it becomes a nissaggiya pacittiya. The twenty-fourth nissaggiya pacittiya is complete. In short: Having made the robes separately, Do not give them away to others. For others, robes, bedding, temples, What many people have obtained, and begging for the Sangha. The last is when robes become light from being heavy, Two bhikshunis gather six measures of sheep's wool, Exceeding ten measures, the begging bowl becomes small in summer, Those with cloth are not allowed, The rest are allowed. The Teacher was staying in Shravasti. At that time, Sbomdagamo's robes had become bad, and the patches were also very old. In the morning, she went to the residence of the bhikshuni Lotus Color and taught the Dharma. The bhikshuni asked, "Why are the robes of the noble one so bad?" Sbomdagamo said, "I don't have a household or children to give me robes." The bhikshuni Lotus Color took a piece of cloth from a box and gave it to Sbomdagamo. Sbomdagamo said, "You have the merit of giving, but you don't have the merit of using it. Please give me the wages for sewing and the cost of dyeing." The bhikshuni also gave it. Sbomdagamo sold all of those and ate them, and went to the bhikshuni with the same bad robes. The bhikshuni asked, "Noble one, why are your clothes still so bad?"
