Etc. These are things like exchanging robes, using out-of-season robes at the right time, and not taking what is marked with signs. The Teacher was staying in Shravasti. At that time, twelve groups of nuns had full bowls and had accumulated what they had obtained. We ourselves do not use them, nor do we give them to other nuns. Therefore, after informing the Teacher, the precepts were established. A nun should keep an extra bowl for a maximum of one night; keeping it longer than that is a Nissaggiya Pacittiya. "A maximum of one night" means exceeding one day and one night. "An extra bowl" means more than the blessed bowl. "Keeping it beyond that" means keeping it beyond that limit. If one obtains a bowl on the first day and another bowl on the second day, then the nun should bless the one from the first day and discard the latter. Or give it to someone else. If she does not discard it or give it away, it is a Nissaggiya Pacittiya when the sun rises the next morning. If she does not obtain it on the first day, but on the second day, and obtains it on the third day, then the nun should bless the first bowl from the second day and discard the latter. Or give it to someone else. If she does not discard it or give it to someone else, it is a Nissaggiya Pacittiya when the sun rises the next morning. Similarly, if she does not obtain anything from the second to the eighth day, but obtains one bowl on the ninth day, and then obtains another bowl on the tenth day, then the nun should bless the first bowl from the ninth day and discard the latter. Or give it to someone else. If she does not discard it or give it to someone else, it is a Nissaggiya Pacittiya when the sun rises the next morning. If a nun obtains two bowls on the first day and then obtains another bowl on the second day, then the nun can bless either the first or the second bowl from the second day. Discarding is as before. If it is not the first day, but between the second and the ninth day, and then she obtains another bowl on the tenth day, then the nun can bless either the first or the second bowl from the ninth day. If she does not discard it, it is as before, up to a Nissaggiya Pacittiya. If a nun obtains many bowls during the day on the first day, and then on the second day she

If another is found, it is to be abandoned as before. There is no fault in a small bowl or a gray bowl. The twentieth offense of abandonment is complete. "Half-moon, half-moon" refers to the time when the Teacher was residing in Shravasti. When the nuns lost their memory, they did not know which was their undergarment, which was their upper garment, which was their lining, which was their skirt, or which was their sweat cloth. Then, Gautami Mahaprajapati went to see the Teacher, prostrated with her head, and reported the situation in detail. The Teacher instructed that the nuns should bless the half-moon, half-moon robes. However, the coarse-joyful woman did not bless the half-moon, half-moon robes. The nuns reported this matter to the Teacher, who repeatedly scolded the coarse-joyful woman and established the precepts. If any nun does not bless the half-moon, half-moon robes, she commits an offense of abandonment. The so-called "others, actually robes" refers to the five blessed garments, namely, the undergarment, the upper garment, the lining, the skirt, and the dust-wiping cloth. The so-called "blessing" refers to blessing separately. If this offense is committed, if the nuns do not bless any of the half-moon, half-moon robes, they commit an offense of abandonment. The twenty-first offense of abandonment is complete. "Fixed" refers to the time when the Teacher was residing in Shravasti. The Teacher instructed that the nuns should take out the fixed object. The coarse-joyful woman hid the fixed object when it was not time to take it out, saying, "What is the point of taking it out?" The nuns said, "Now is not the time to take it out." The coarse-joyful woman said, "What is the time for fixing?" Then she took out the fixed object. The nuns carried five robes and went wandering, digging the ground. The nuns asked, "Have you noble mothers not laid out the fixed object?" The nuns replied, "We have laid it out." If it has been laid out, why carry five robes and go wandering, digging the ground? They reported this matter to the Teacher, who established the precepts. If any nun
