Then it becomes hard, and similarly, the winds also completely permeate and harden it. From that, the best, the main, and the rich essence, due to the action of the wind, Mount Meru arises, which has the nature of four precious things, namely gold, silver, crystal, and lapis lazuli. From the middle essence, the seven golden mountains will appear, namely Yoke-Holder Mountain, Good-to-See Mountain, Horse-Ear Mountain, Holding-Doubles Mountain, Fragrant-Holder Mountain, Holding-Axis Mountain, and Surrounding Mountain, which are arranged in order around Mount Meru. The height of Mount Meru is eighty thousand yojanas, and its width is also the same, eighty thousand yojanas are submerged in water. The height of Yoke-Holder Mountain is half of that. The height of the other six mountains, namely Good-to-See Mountain, etc., is reduced by half in order. From the inferior essences, the four faces of Mount Meru and the four great continents outside the golden mountains will arise, as well as the eight subcontinents and the surrounding mountains. The height of the surrounding mountains is half of the surrounding mountains, which surround the four great continents like a wheel. The abode of the Asuras is located in the part of Mount Meru that is submerged in water. At the foot of Mount Meru there are four tiers, the height of the first tier is sixteen thousand yojanas. The height of the remaining tiers is reduced by half in order, and they are arranged in order. On the first tier dwell those who hold parasols in their hands. On the second, third, and fourth tiers dwell those who hold weapons in their hands, the constantly drunk, and those who hold garlands, respectively, in order. On the east, south, west, and north sides of Yoke-Holder Mountain are the palaces of the four great kings, Dhritarashtra, Virudhaka, Virupaksha, and Vaishravana, respectively, in order. On the other six golden mountains, namely Good-to-See Mountain, etc., are the cities, towns, and lands of those great kings. On top of Mount Meru is Indra, the lord of the gods, the width of whose palace is one hundred thousand yojanas.

Where are the cities, towns, and lands of those gods? Near Lake Manasarovar is a snow mountain, and below it are the abodes of the great hells of sentient beings, namely the hot hells, the ephemeral hells, the cold hells, the neighboring hells, and some animals and hungry ghosts reside there. How does the container world manifest? Because the life, karma, and merit of sentient beings are exhausted, they will experience the first kalpa, and due to the karma, they will die from the lineage of the gods of clear light and transfer here, being born here from here. Among these beings, the karma of acting in desire is the most excellent, supreme, and principal. The fruit of that karma will manifest in its own time, not at other times. At that time, those sentient beings are called the people of the first kalpa. How does a kalpa destroy? How does it form? Because the content is extensive, it is not explained in detail here. It should be understood as it appears in the Sutra of Establishing the World and the Yogacarabhumi-sastra and so on. The term "differentiation" is the name of a number. That is, ten ones are ten, ten tens are a hundred, ten hundreds are a thousand, ten thousands are ten thousand, ten ten thousands are a hundred thousand, ten hundred thousands are a million, ten millions are ten million. The mention of ten million here is merely an example. The Tathagatas appear in the world, even after ten million great kalpas, or even more, they will not appear. Therefore, the appearance of the Tathagata is extremely rare. Hearing the Pratimoksha precepts is also extremely rare, because it depends on the appearance of the Tathagata. Even if the Tathagata appears in the world, he does not preach this Pratimoksha precept for twelve years, therefore, hearing this precept is obviously difficult to obtain. The so-called "hearing" refers to the recognition of words and meanings through ear consciousness, and the subsequent reflection on it by mind consciousness. The so-called "receiving" refers to understanding words and meanings through wisdom. The so-called "holding" refers to not forgetting it for a long time through memory, in the manner of recitation and so on. The so-called "practice" refers to its meaning.
