From the state of abiding, we have become accustomed to this. Then, the Blessed One said: "Do not wear the lower garment too tightly." Similarly, "Do not wear the lower garment too loosely," thus establishing the training. Those who wear the lower garment lower than the hip. The nuns said: "Why do you wear the lower garment lower than the hip?" They said: "Laywomen wear it this way." The nuns said: "Are you laywomen?" In such a situation, the nuns reported to the Blessed One, and the Blessed One said: "Neither too tight nor too loose, do not wear the lower garment lower than the hip, wear a round lower garment, this should be learned." The origin of the matter was in Shravasti. At that time, the group of twelve women wore lower garments like elephant trunks. The nuns said: "Why do you wear it so large? Why do you wear lower garments like elephant trunks?" They said: "The wealthy, cooks, and merchants wear it this way." Up to the point where the Blessed One said: "Do not wear it like an elephant trunk, not like a palm leaf, not like a barley spike, not like a snake's hood, one should learn to wear the lower garment in this way." The Dharma robe should also be applied in accordance with the origin of the lower garment. The origin of the matter was in Shravasti. At that time, the group of twelve women went into houses with their arms bare. The nuns said to them: "Why do you go into houses with your arms bare?" They replied: "Because prostitutes are happy to see it." Up to the point where the Blessed One said: "One should learn to enter houses very restrainedly." The Blessed One said: Do not walk, up to that point. Then the twelve classes of mothers walk with their backs straight in the house, up to the point of walking like the wealthy and merchants. The Blessed One said: Not with the chest, not in a measuring manner, not squatting, not stooping, and not with the back straight, one should be taught to walk in the house of a householder, up to that point. Then the twelve classes of mothers twist their bodies and walk, up to the point of walking like cows. The Blessed One said: Do not twist the body, one should walk in the house, up to that point. Then the twelve classes of mothers walk in the house with their hands crooked, up to the point of walking like the wealthy and merchants. The Blessed One said: Do not walk, up to that point. Then the twelve classes of mothers walk in the house turning their heads, up to the point of doing like animal crickets. The Blessed One said: Do not walk, up to that point.
