Because they did it so much, they exceeded the time for shade. Those nuns said to the householder, 'Householder, the time has come for the nuns' Sangha to receive offerings.' He said, 'Holy Mother, in what way can I obtain the most excellent hospitality?' Therefore, a few nuns were ridiculed. They reported this matter to the Blessed One. The Blessed One instructed, 'Do not go to people's houses before and after meals.' If someone invites hospitality and offerings, then these will impair the affairs and actions of the Sangha.' The Blessed One instructed, 'Before meals is two houses.' Then, the Blessed One wanted to establish precepts for the nuns, praised the respect for the nuns' precepts, and instructed, 'If any nun is invited to a house with food, and wanders in the village before and after meals, without advising the layperson who is sitting, except for this kind of situation, it is a downfall.' 'Any nun' in 'any' means happy. 'With food' means when there is food. 'House' means being invited to the house of the householder. 'Before meals' means the time of morning. 'After meals' means the time of afternoon. 'Downfall' is the same as before. What is a downfall? If the nuns are invited to a house with food, and go to two houses before meals, but intentionally go to three houses, it is a downfall. After meals, going to three houses, but intentionally going to four houses, it is a downfall. If it is for the sake of the householder, there is no fault. The sixty-fifth downfall precept is complete. At that time, the Teacher was in Shravasti. The venerable Charava was the ordination teacher of the nun Lotus Garland. Before dawn, before the light of dawn, she went to the royal palace to teach the Dharma to the queen, and this was established as a precept. Later, the twelve groups did not establish this precept for the nuns, so they went to the royal palace before dawn, and the nuns reported this matter to the Blessed One.

From "བྱ་བ་ནས། བསླབ་པ་བཅས་ཞེས་བྱ་བའི་བར་དུ་" onwards, it is as before. Furthermore, if a bhikṣuṇī, before dawn and before the appearance of the twilight, without collecting precious items, crosses the bolt of the gate or the vicinity of the bolt of the gate of a king or royal family who has been empowered from the crown of the head, unless there is such a circumstance, it is a downfall. Moreover, "དགེ་སློང་མ་གང་ཞེས་བྱ་བ་" refers to other situations similar to the group of twelve. "ནམ་མ་ནངས་ཞེས་བྱ་བ་" refers to the time before dawn. In "སྐྱ་རེངས་མ་ཤར་ཞེས་བྱ་བ་," twilight has three types: blue, yellow, and red. Here, it refers to red. "མ་ཤར་ཞེས་བྱ་བ་" means not appeared. "རིན་པོ་ཆེ་ཞེས་བྱ་བ་" refers to things that illuminate at night, such as jewels, pearls, beryl, and right-turning conch shells. "རིན་པོ་ཆེ་ལྟ་བུ་ཞེས་བྱ་བ་" refers to all battle equipment and things belonging to the category of music. "རྒྱལ་པོ་ཞེས་བྱ་བ་" refers to the one who empowers, even if it is a woman. "གཏན་པ་ཞེས་བྱ་བ་" has three meanings: the bolt of the gate of the king, the city, and the retinue of the queen. Here, it is understood that the bolt of the gate of the king's city has been crossed. "ཉེ་འཁོར་" refers to its left and right sides. "འདས་ན་ཞེས་བྱ་བ་" means having passed. "རྐྱེན་མ་གཏོགས་ཞེས་བྱ་བ་" refers to permitted circumstances. "ལྟུང་བ་ཞེས་བྱ་བ་" is as before. So, what kind of downfall is it? If a bhikṣuṇī, thinking it is not dawn or being doubtful when it is not dawn, crosses the bolt of the gate of the king or the city, it is a downfall. Thinking it is not dawn or being doubtful when it is not dawn is a misdeed. Thinking it is not dawn or being doubtful when it is not dawn and crossing the bolt of the gate of the retinue of the queen is a misdeed. Thinking it is dawn or being doubtful when it is dawn is also a misdeed. If the king, queen, prince, or minister calls, or if any of the eight obstacles occur, there is no fault in going there. For beginners, etc., there is no downfall. The sixty-sixth downfall is complete. The story takes place in Shravasti. When the group of six recites the Pratimoksha Sutra every half month, they do not listen to paintings, gurus, cherished objects, things to be remembered, things to be focused on, or listen respectfully, nor do they say "Venerable ones" to the bhikṣus.
