Or, if obstructed by urination or defecation, one should leave as soon as possible and sit down. If delayed for a long time, one should go near the village and sit down. If a Brahmin or householder sends a messenger, one should say, 'Please wait a moment until the elder arrives.' Even if entering the room, one should prepare a seat for the elder. If washing water is brought, one should say, 'Offer it to the elder.' If the elder arrives, all those present should stand up. This is called the behavior of the intermediate. What is the behavior of the novice? The newly ordained monk should sweep the temple, wipe, discard the dust, smooth the ground with cow dung, place the water separately, spread the seats, prepare the food, and prepare in the fire room, where wood should be transported, oil should be placed, earth and flour should be placed, and water should be placed. For the monks who have been promised, those works should be done. Any other behavior is also acceptable, all of which should be done by the novice. Likewise, the newly ordained monk should have a sense of father and brother towards the elder monks, with respect, obedience, fear, and manifest a mind focused on the Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha. One should fulfill these completely according to the prescribed code of conduct, which is called the behavior of the novice. What is the behavior of the elder, intermediate, and novice? All the elder, intermediate, and novice monks should manifest the mind of having renounced. One should manifest the idea that the Buddha, the Bhagavan, is the protector. One should be devoted to Nirvana. One should practice the prescribed precepts and enter in particular, striving to obtain higher achievements, which is called the behavior of the elder, intermediate, and novice.

One should settle into mindfulness and not let the mind wander. Conduct should be good, extremely elegant, extremely restrained, with a subdued voice, with respect, with control, with awe, and with a humble mind like a dust-cloth. One should have a loving mind towards elders, those in between, and juniors. One should have a mind of benefit and a mind of loving care. One should manifest the thought of father, son, and siblings. When a monk enters the hot room, he should not engage in various idle talks, nor should he speak contradictory words. One should engage in two kinds of conduct: either remaining silent like a noble one, or engaging in talks about the definitive Dharma. This is called the conduct of the hot room. What is bathing in the hot room? The Blessed One allowed the monks to rely on the hot room, not for the sake of obesity, not for the sake of pride, not for the sake of adornment, not for the sake of delusion, but for the sake of nourishing this body. The hot room has five qualities: it removes dust and dirt, it brightens the skin and complexion, it removes diseases on the skin, it eliminates wind and phlegm, and the hot room makes one free from illness. Furthermore, there are five qualities: it removes dust and dirt, it brightens the skin and complexion, it removes diseases on the skin, it eliminates wind and phlegm, and the hot room causes one to develop renunciation. If a monk wishes to bathe in the hot room, he should first inform the preceptor. He should inform at the time of bathing. He should enter the hot room with awareness. He should sit in the lotus position. He should manifest the thought of sitting. Bathe. Sit in front and do not feel uncomfortable. Maintain mindfulness and do all the tasks. The monk should also practice the actions of doing things. Until one has informed the teacher and preceptor, one should not do the same things. If there is nothing, one should not claim it as one's own. One should not claim ownership of the teacher, the preceptor, and those who are displeased. If one wants to pour water, one should mix it with cold water and pour it. If the water is too hot, one should also say "the water is hot" to inform. Having bathed with awareness.
