之后，比丘长老应诵读布施功德偈，并于该地来回考察两三次。到达村边后，应为比丘们寻找住所，寻找卧具，或者寻找草和树叶。如果条件允许，应准备洗脚水、擦脚布、大众饮品、红糖、糖蜜等。应询问并考察大小便之处，以便夜晚居住。为了家神，也应念诵第三代传承和布施功德。即使住在那里，比丘长老也应寻找并准备好米饭、面条和酸粥等食物，供养比丘们。然后，应对比丘新人们说教，正确地说教，全面了解，思考，坚定，并展示。务必使他们避免傲慢、不合理或玩乐。如果行走的比丘长老不按照普遍行为的戒律去做，就会构成严重违规，这被称为行走长老的行为。什么是洗脚的行为呢？世尊允许比丘们洗脚，比丘们看到空容器后，应自己考虑。或者，比丘应告知住在寺院的人们："请准备好。"擦脚的行为是这样的：比丘们应有意识地进入并洗脚。不应在比丘洗脚的地方久留，不应入定，不应回忆，不应询问，不应下决心而坐。应迅速洗完脚，并有意识地返回，这被称为洗脚的行为。什么是洗脚长老的行为呢？洗脚的比丘长老在比丘开始洗脚时，不应在未完成之前就催促或打断。所谓开始洗脚，是指脚在坑里被水浸湿的状态。如果比丘们的行为不端庄,

Afterwards, the elder monk should recite the verses of the merit of giving, and inspect that place two or three times back and forth. Upon reaching the edge of the village, he should seek lodging for the monks, seek bedding, or seek grass and leaves. If conditions permit, he should prepare foot-washing water, foot-wiping cloths, communal drinks, brown sugar, molasses, and so on. He should inquire about and inspect the places for urination and defecation for the night's stay. For the sake of the household gods, he should also recite the third lineage and the merit of giving. Even while staying there, the elder monk should seek and prepare food such as rice, noodles, and sour porridge to offer to the monks. Then, he should instruct the new monks, instruct them correctly, understand everything, contemplate, be firm, and demonstrate. He must ensure that they avoid arrogance, unreasonableness, or playfulness. If the traveling elder monk does not act according to the precepts of universal conduct, it constitutes a serious violation, and this is called the conduct of a traveling elder. What is the act of washing feet? The Blessed One allowed the monks to wash their feet, and the monks, upon seeing an empty container, should consider it themselves. Alternatively, the monk should inform those residing in the monastery, "Please prepare." The act of wiping feet is as follows: monks should consciously enter and wash their feet. They should not linger long at the place where monks wash their feet, they should not meditate, they should not recall, they should not inquire, they should not sit with determination. They should quickly wash their feet and consciously return, and this is called the act of washing feet. What is the act of the elder who washes feet? When a monk who washes feet begins to wash the feet of a monk, he should not urge or interrupt him before he is finished.
