These are the five things, namely "believe," and instructing and entrusting "this is the key." This refers to the duties of a resident monk who has arrived suddenly. What should a traveler do? That traveling monk should examine which place and which direction he is going to. He should ask the monks who have come from that direction whether there are any of the eight obstacles or any kind of impediment that may arise if he goes there. If he goes there, will he not be preoccupied with begging for alms, medical treatment for illness, and attending to needs? If I am preoccupied with begging for alms, medical treatment for illness, and attending to needs, and I gain nothing, will my body not weaken and will I not miss the opportunity? Will my body be comfortable and my mind be comfortable? If I go there, will there be monks who are disciplined, monks who possess qualities, virtuous monks, monks who possess good Dharma, monks who have the same view, monks who have the same dwelling? Will I be able to generate these qualities without giving rise to doubt? Will I be able to eliminate those that have already arisen? Will I prevent evil views that have not yet arisen from arising? Will I be able to dispel those that have already arisen? Will I and those long-lived ones be comfortable in body and mind? Will I and those long-lived ones increase in virtuous Dharma? One should ask in this way, and thus examine the place. One should also examine one's companions: Are these long-lived ones disciplined? Are they virtuous and possess good Dharma? Do they have the same view? Do they have the same dwelling? If so, will I prevent doubts that have not yet arisen from arising? Will I dispel those that have already arisen? Will I prevent evil views that have not yet arisen from arising, and will I dispel those that have already arisen? Will I and those long-lived ones be comfortable in body and mind? Will I and those long-lived ones increase in virtuous Dharma? If these long-lived ones will not abandon me if I fall ill on the road, one should examine one's companions in this way. On that road, will I not encounter any of the eight obstacles? On that road, will I not be preoccupied with begging for alms, medical treatment for illness, and attending to needs? If beg

If there is no proper rest, treatment for illness, and service, it will be harmful, won't the timing be missed? On that path, will my body be comfortable and my mind be peaceful? On that path, will virtuous dharmas increase? If it is not rushed, then one should go. Like this, after examining the place, friends, and roads, if one had intended to go before, now one should consult the teachers and Khenpos: "I am going to such a place, to such a city." The teachers and Khenpos should also examine the environment there, examine the road, and examine the bhikkhu friends: "What are the bhikkhu friends like here? What are the retinues like here? What are the follower friends like here?" After examining, if it is suitable, then one should grant the request. If it is not suitable, one should not grant it. If a bhikkhu who is going leaves without asking, he will commit a serious offense. If one is going to a place where virtuous dharmas increase, even if the teachers and Khenpos are not there, it is okay to leave without asking. Wherever one stays, one should clean the dwelling, sweep the floor, throw away the garbage, and smear the floor smoothly with cow dung. In the morning, one should recite the Sutra of the Three Heaps. After reciting, one should proclaim the merits of generosity. After getting up in the morning, one should arrange the bedding and other items as needed. Then, leave a gap of about four fingers from the wall, close the door, insert the bolt and crossbar, and instruct the bhikkhus who live there and reside permanently: "Please take care of it." Then leave. There are five instructions for taking care of the dwelling and so on: Take care of this room, take care of this dwelling, take care of this bedding, take care of these beddings, and the fifth is handing over the key. After leaving the monastery, one should examine the bhikkhu friends and ask each other: "Is there anything forgotten or left behind?" If there is, then call that bhikkhu back, retrieve the forgotten item, and wait until he returns, this is the business of going. The abbot of going.

What is the task? The resident elder monk should rise first and prepare the departing monks. To those who are venerable, he should say, "Take your alms bowls and Dharma robes carefully and depart. Let no one forget." When the departing monks are about to leave, the resident elder monk himself should observe whether they have forgotten anything, and then walk at the end of everyone. Before long, he should say to them, "Has anyone forgotten anything at all?" The resident elder monk should instruct all the monks, saying, "None of you venerable ones should leave ahead of the others." Do not lag behind; everyone should gather together, look at each other, and proceed thoughtfully. When the resident elder monk is on the road, he should be aware of whether they are comfortable or not, and whether he himself has abandoned them and gone ahead, or whether anyone has fallen behind. If anyone has been abandoned and gone ahead, he should stop them. If anyone has fallen behind, he should urge and encourage them. He himself should also walk in the midst of the monks. If he cannot walk, he should divide his alms bowl and Dharma robes among them and entrust them to them. If he becomes unable to walk, those monks should carry that monk on their shoulders or backs, carry him out of the monastery, and take him to the edge of the village. They should also give that monk an attendant monk, and the attendant monk should also seek food and medicine for him from others. If the road becomes dangerous, they should walk quickly and then come out and rest. If they are able to walk again, they should examine where there is a riverside, or a forest edge, or a green meadow, or any place they like, and let the monks rest. After resting, they should walk again, and the resident elder monk should say to all of them: "Hey, everyone should also recite a merit of giving here." After all the monks have finished reciting the verses of the merit of giving,
