Not to be defiled, not to act in a hasty and vulgar manner, to be clean and beautiful, to be swift and as desired. Do not pursue other matters that are out of place. After going to the temple, let the monk have a radiant face, without anger, with sweet words, and accept food with satisfaction. This is called the act of receiving food. What is the conduct of a hermit? The hermit monk should have a radiant face and be without anger. Mindfulness should be established. First, with sweet words, say, "Please come, welcome!" Greet with sweet words. First ask, "Have you settled down well, have you done what needs to be done?" The hermit monks should boil water well and place it. Water containers should also be placed. Food should also be cooked and the food containers should be placed. Fire should also be kindled and placed. Charcoal should also be kindled and placed. Butter lamps should also be lit and placed. The containers for the butter lamps should also be placed. The wicks of the butter lamps should also be lit. Butter, sesame oil, honey, and ropes should also be prepared and placed. Pieces of leather should also be prepared and placed. Thread, ropes, and awls should also be prepared and placed. Needles, knives, thread, and food should also be prepared and placed. Medicines should also be carried. A sturdy staff for the body should also be carried. The hermit monk should not show the fire mirror and water mirror to others. The hermit monk should know the origins of the well. Be skilled in close service. Be skilled in the night. Be skilled in geography. The hermit monk should be skilled in the Sutras. Be skilled in the Vinaya. Be skilled in the Matrika. Be skilled in speech, skilled in teaching the Dharma, skilled in the five aggregates, skilled in the eighteen elements, skilled in the twelve sources, skilled in dependent origination, skilled in what is and is not. The hermit monks should be content. Know the time, know the measure, know oneself, know the assembly, know the person, and know the differences of people. The hermit monks should not generate arrogance, should not be hypocritical, should be respectful, should be dependent on others, and should not speak wildly.

并且，要坚定誓言，知羞耻，有惭愧心。不要多说话，不要说争斗的话，要精进，不要懒惰，要有正念和正知，要守护根门，饮食有节制，不要贪执己有。夜晚和清晨要努力修行瑜伽。不要享受睡眠的快乐、翻滚的快乐和躺卧的快乐。要知道何时该做，何时不该做。要精通坐垫，精通坐姿，不要诽谤长老比丘，也不要诽谤新学比丘。寺院的比丘不要懈怠精进。要努力获得未得的，证悟未证悟的，现前未现前的。住在寺院的比丘要拥有法衣、钵和水壶。 夜晚和清晨要修行瑜伽。寺院的比丘如果没有像戒律中规定的那样圆满地实行一切应行之法，就会犯下重罪。这叫做寺院比丘的行持。什么是寺院长老的行持呢？寺院的长老比丘应当从事这样的行为。要了解所有住在那里的新学比丘，就像前面说的那样，一切事情都应由长老比丘首先去做，直到不中断传承为止。要掌握寺院的事务，要掌握寺院的事务。他们也应当听从并实践长老所教导的明确指示。这叫做寺院长老首先应做的事。什么是村边的行持呢？村边寺院的比丘要保持容光焕发，就像前面说的那样，直到“安乐地度过”为止。对于前来拜访的比丘，要问候“是否安乐而来？”。要根据情况让他们休息。也要供养他们现有的卧具。如果他们早上到达，就应分享并供养现有的食物。如果他们在饭后到达，就应供养饮料、红糖、冰糖、诃子和余甘子等。

And, to keep vows firm, to know shame, and to have a sense of embarrassment. Do not talk too much, do not speak of strife, be diligent, do not be lazy, be mindful and aware, guard the senses, be moderate in eating, do not be possessive. In the evening and at dawn, be diligent in practicing yoga. Do not indulge in the pleasure of sleep, the pleasure of rolling around, and the pleasure of lying down. Know when to act and when not to act. Be skilled in the use of mats, skilled in sitting, do not slander elder monks, nor slander newly ordained monks. Monks in monasteries should not neglect diligence. Strive to attain what has not been attained, to realize what has not been realized, and to manifest what has not been manifested. Monks residing in monasteries should possess Dharma robes, bowls, and water pots. In the evening and at dawn, practice yoga. If a monastic monk does not fully practice all the prescribed practices as stipulated in the Vinaya, he will commit a serious offense. This is called the conduct of a monastic monk. What is the conduct of a monastic elder? The elder monk of the monastery should engage in such conduct. All the newly ordained monks residing there should be known, as mentioned before, and the elder monk should initiate everything, until the lineage is not interrupted. The affairs of the monastery should be taken care of, the affairs of the monastery should be taken care of. They should also listen to and practice the clear instructions taught by the elders. This is called what the elder of the monastery should do first. What is the conduct of the village edge? The monk of the village edge monastery should maintain a radiant appearance, as mentioned before, until "passed peacefully." For the monks who come and arrive, ask, "Have you come in peace?" Let them rest as appropriate. Also offer them whatever bedding is available. If they arrive in the morning, share and offer whatever food is available. If they arrive after the meal, offer drinks, brown sugar, rock candy, haritaki, and amalaki, etc., whatever is available.
