Here, five situations are prohibited, but there is no downfall in the sixth. The Vinaya also says that even in the sixth year, there is no downfall, as stated in the Vibhaṅga. As for patching, some argue that even found patches of already made items should be used for patching. It is unreasonable to want to use found patches for new items, because made items can be distinguished from new ones. Furthermore, new items should be made to have an unpleasant color, while old items naturally become unpleasant in color due to their age and become dull. Therefore, patching should be done from the middle of a new cushion, making it strong and ensuring the old part is not damaged. Even carrying it on the road is acceptable, but if it exceeds three kroshas (approximately 9 kilometers), it should be done from the beginning, and carrying a heavy load incurs a minor offense, that is its meaning. The explanation that if it is not carried, it exceeds three kroshas, and if it is carried, it occurs from the beginning is incorrect. Because it is said that carrying it beyond that distance, the road exceeding three kroshas is the cause of downfall. In the stated downfalls, it is also said that carrying sheep's wool beyond three kroshas results in a Nissaggiya Pacittiya offense, thus the exceeded road itself is stated as the cause of downfall. If carrying, no downfall is indicated, however, because it is said that if not carrying, if carrying, it is not entrusted by oneself, therefore it is only a minor offense, thus this indicates a difference. These three unsuitable gold and silver should be understood as the latter being more important than the former. Letting the donor like it, persuading, and making them acknowledge themselves as the owner, so that other thoughts clearly arise. After blessing, the thought of not owning it clearly arises. If someone thinks, what is the meaning of what is said in the Vibhaṅga that a monk touching unsuitable gold incurs a minor offense? What is not said here is that what is unsuitable for use is called gold. However, here there are jewels, therefore the jewels themselves are complete and are the basis of blamelessness, how could it be said that this is a minor offense? Similarly, if someone touches earth, it is a Nissaggiya. As for gold...

Touching should be abandoned. If someone asks, isn't there a contradiction because it is generally said that touching earth and gold should be abandoned? There is no contradiction, because it relies on the conspicuous signs that serve as the reason for merchandise in the world. For things that are not suitable for designation, since their conspicuous signs are fully present, it is said to be a fault. Therefore, the meaning here is: if there is a reason that is suitable as a reason for designation, then the reason that is suitable for designation also disappears. Here, the mere substance itself is not suitable for applying a designation, because that would lead to the fallacy of applying a designation without relying on conspicuous signs. Therefore, whatever reason has conspicuous signs and is suitable for designation, if it is not the substance marked by that conspicuous sign, then it is said to be a fault, because it is not suitable for designation, and the reason has also been lost. But this does not mean that the substance of the jewel has been lost, otherwise it would become like copper, which is not suitable for designation, and would not fall. As it is said in the scriptures, if a monk sits on a golden platform, it is a fault. Venerable, if a monk touches a jewel or something that is considered a jewel, what happens? It is a fault. Similarly, the scriptures also say that touching earth or gold, etc., that are not suitable for applying a designation. Damage is a symbol of breaking or cracking, etc. The author of the scriptures also denigrates things that are not suitable for designation. He explained cracking and breaking, etc. Therefore, for the nature of jewels, which are not suitable for designation, and any jewel that does not have conspicuous signs, it should be understood that touching a jewel that is not suitable for designation is a fault. Even when touching jewels, etc., that have been allowed in a state of complete abiding, it should be understood as a fault from the aspect of being unsuitable, from reputation, and from oral instructions. For things with conspicuous signs, such as Karshapana (藏文:ཀཱར་ཤཱ་པ་ཎ་,梵文天城体:Kārṣāpaṇa,梵文罗马转写:Kārṣāpaṇa,汉语字面意思:一种古代印度货币单位) and copper, etc., that are suitable for applying a designation, should be abandoned. Here, too, it is a symbol of rice and clothes, etc., because in the Vinaya-vibhaṅga it is said that everything should be abandoned. In order to increase the types of substances such as pana (藏文:པ་ན་,梵文天城体:paṇa,梵文罗马转写:paṇa,汉语字面意思:一种货币单位), jewels, rice, grains, alcohol, and clothes in trade, buying from laypeople who are not relatives
