Becoming a defeat, becoming a sangha remnant, becoming a gross offense, becoming a falling offense, becoming a misdeed. Among them, the lie that leads to defeat is changing the concept and speaking of the superior Dharma of humans. The lie that leads to sangha remnant is changing the concept and slandering without basis or slightly. The lie that leads to a gross offense is, when the sangha is acting, knowingly declaring what is not Dharma as Dharma to the assembled sangha, and declaring Dharma as not Dharma. This is the gross offense in the case of a lie that leads to defeat. The lie that leads to a falling offense is the first three, as well as the lie that leads to a misdeed, and the lie that is different from the four, that is, changing the concept from the object of knowing the meaning. Speaking a lie is established by the power of concept, not by the power of whether things exist or not. The lie that leads to a misdeed is what is pointed out here, that is, during the Uposatha, when asked "Are you completely pure in this?" three times, knowingly not being pure but passing by without saying anything, this is called a misdeed. But this only completes the misdeed, not the mental misdeed, because the expression of mouth transformation etc. is there. Therefore, knowingly speaking a lie is impure, and what is the fault of impurity? Therefore, the Blessed One said, "Those with life, knowingly speaking a lie, is said by the Blessed One to be an obstructing Dharma." Because speaking a lie is a natural offense, those who have not received full ordination, those who have degenerated, those who have committed the five inexpiable sins, those who hold wrong views, those who live in other places, those who live in different places, if they speak a lie, it will obstruct the higher realms and definite goodness of the next life. Therefore, if one who abides in the nature of a bhikshu speaks it, because it is a natural offense plus a natural offense, both offenses are practiced even more, so the Blessed One said that it obstructs even more the higher realms and definite goodness. Here it is said that if it exceeds the ritual, the karma will not be established. Karma is prayer and

Speaking and individual liberation, recitation, and the act of abstaining, are summarized into one hundred and one activities. The ritual is that the Sangha is complete, the matter is spoken, and the act itself is performed. Because it is not Dharma, it is not in accordance with what should not be done, so it should not be done. It is what the Sangha should not do. Therefore, reciting the Pratimoksha Sutra here is the activity of Uposatha, but that is not Dharma, so it should not be done. This is what those with confusion and others should not do, and so on. Here, having a transgression is having confusion. If one remembers it but does not confess, then knowingly telling a lie is also a natural downfall. Therefore, if those who have not confessed or been blessed perform the activity of Uposatha, then that activity will not be accomplished, and there will be other faults. After that, the meaning of the benefit of dwelling in the limb will be explained. Therefore, the monk who desires to be completely purified of the transgressions that have occurred, this means that even the offense of knowingly telling a lie is desired to be completely purified. Having a transgression, and remembering and seeing it, one should confess. This means that whatever is appropriate to do, whether confession, guarding, or blessing, should be done. Such confession is purification. What is the benefit of purification? Therefore, it is said that if one confesses, one will abide in contact with happiness. If one confesses, one will obtain the ten benefits of morality, and will abide in the happiness of higher realms and definite goodness. The ten benefits of morality are obtaining the Dharma that is preceded by joy that gradually increases without regret, and so on, which have been previously taught. Higher realms are the heavens, and definite goodness is Nirvana. At this time, because one has not immediately gone beyond the ritual, there are other benefits of accomplishing the activity. If one does not confess or admit, it will not change. This shows the previously taught following in the opposite way. After this, the meaning of the concluding limb of the recitation will be explained. Venerable ones, I have recited the introduction to the Pratimoksha Sutra. The so-called introduction is the cause of reciting the Sutra. The so-called having recited is for the purpose of concluding with the meaning of the vow, and to make the listeners happy.

It is said for this reason. After that, the meaning of the branch of proclaiming the Pratimoksha should be explained. "That" refers to the matter of proclaiming the Pratimoksha. "What" is a complete inquiry. "Here" refers to the Uposatha. "You" refers to you all. "Are you pure?" means have you not committed any offenses? "Say" refers to a general inquiry. "Ask" refers to the first question. "Ask twice, ask three times" means that it is necessary to ask only three times. Saying "twice, three times" is because if it is less, some people will not hear it, and if it is more, there will be faults such as being overdue. Therefore, it is considered appropriate to ask three times, meaning that the offenses have not been concealed by the two, confession and blessing. "Silence indicates" is to indicate the conclusion after proclaiming the Pratimoksha, so it is said, "If you venerable ones are pure, then hold it in this way by being silent," meaning that the two, confession and blessing, are a gathering of the Sangha that has not concealed any offenses at all. The "Proclamation of the Pratimoksha" has been explained. Among the six summarized meanings of reciting the Sutra, the request and the proclamation of the Pratimoksha are not found in other treatises, so they are explained extensively here. The nature of proclaiming the Parajika, Sanghavasesa, Aniyata, and Nissaggiya Pacittiya is: In the Vinaya it is said, "Impure conduct and stealing, one should not kill a person, lying and others, are spoken of here according to the Dharma." From then on, for the Dharma that follows the Dharma arising from other places, you should universally protect your mind with a mind that is in accordance with the Vinaya, joyful, and without contention, and practice yoga with mindfulness, connecting in order. The meaning of those branches is explained in detail in the Pratimoksha Sutra and the Vinaya Sutra. The nature of karma comes from the one hundred and one karmas, so a memorandum of words is not written here, and it should be understood as it is said in those treatises. Those natures are the Pratimoksha and the precepts, as well as the offenses, etc.
