Even a simple dwelling like a residence was made into a mandala. Regarding the time of the journey, a monk was walking on the road, and because he was tired from the journey, he couldn't walk. So (the donor) approached his ear and spoke, and offered ghee, and the limit of the journey was one yojana. Returning from half a yojana. The time of giving clothes is called "time." When in Shravasti, a householder invited the monks, saying, "Please enjoy the meal, one set of clothes for each person." The monks replied, "We have given up eating twice." The householder rebuked, "Even if we treat you with food and clothes, you are not willing to accept." Therefore, the "time" of clothes was allowed, and the clothes were obtained as cotton cloth, cotton cloth, and coarse cloth. The offense is that if invited to the homes of two people with clothes, even if both are eaten, there is no downfall. If previously invited to the home of someone with clothes, and later invited to the home of someone without clothes, then the former has no offense. The latter should be given to others. If not given and not eaten by oneself, there is no downfall. If invited to something done with clothes and the price of clothes, there is no downfall. If previously invited to the home of someone without clothes, and later invited to the home of someone with clothes, there is no downfall. Regarding the origin of not allowing monks to stay overnight in a common residence, it was in Shravasti that a householder built a common residence for the Sangha of the four directions and the ascetic practitioners and Brahmins of external religions. In that monastery, sixty naked ascetic practitioners of external religions were invited, and livelihood and utensils were provided and placed there. The brother of that householder was also a person who believed in Buddhism, and he went to the monastery to prostrate to the monks. However, those residing there were not the Sangha, but purely adherents of external religions. They said, "Alas, if the seed is good, the field is bad; the land of the swamp is an evil, bad land." (The donor asked,) "Then, where is there good land?" (The adherents of external religions replied,) "It is the Shravaka Sangha of the Blessed One, in Shravasti." After that, that donor again invited the Six Groups, providing utensils without being bothered, and instructed his wife to take care. After that, that householder went to a village of mountain rocks for other matters. After that, when the wife asked about food, the Six Groups spoke from the limbs of the woman and ridiculed her. After that, when the householder returned, the wife told him, but he did not believe.

It became true if one contemplated as if the householder himself was leaving alone. The householder also thought, what method should I use to expel the group of six? So, day by day, he reduced one portion of food, and as a result, one naked ascetic remained, and the other naked ascetics left. The benefactor did not say anything to those who did not believe in the group of six, and sixty naked ascetics returned and beat the group of six. They didn't care, and when the naked ascetics were tired and sat down, one of the group of six called ten people, and the group of six beat them half to death. Then, the group of six returned to Shravasti, and at that time, the venerable. Shariputra subdued countless heretics who came to challenge from the north and established them in the truth. The monks said to the group of six, "The venerable Shariputra has done such a thing for the benefit of sentient beings." The group of six said, "What's so amazing about that? We still preach the Dharma with sticks to sixty naked ascetics." Then, this matter was reported to the Buddha, and the Buddha stipulated that in a common dwelling place, only one portion of food is allowed to be eaten. Except when sick, it is not allowed. It is said that in the old temple in that place, the venerable Shariputra was invited to preach the Dharma, and his friend, the believer, guided Shariputra there. After preaching the Dharma there, people developed faith. The venerable Shariputra also became ill due to wind disease. If he was asked to stay there, he did not agree, but left there and went to Shravasti. Many people asked Shariputra's disciple, "Did you come in peace?" The disciple replied, "It is peaceful to benefit many sentient beings, but the abbot is sick, so it is not peaceful." This matter was reported to the Buddha, and the Buddha allowed hugging the knees when sick. Spending the night in a common dwelling place refers to the naked ascetics living in the abode of the Shravakas. Bhikshu refers to the group of six, and there are other bhikshus as well. Not allowed refers to Shariputra not allowing it. Eating only one portion of food refers to committing a downfall if one eats more than that. Sin refers to committing a sin while staying in that place. Committing a downfall if one eats too much food. Staying there and storing food separately is also a sin. Eating commits a downfal

I will become. There is no fault in dwelling alone and eating alone. There is no fault for the one who dwells alone and eats there. Eating there will lead to a downfall. From many people and from relatives. If the benefactor says, "Stay," there is no downfall. The reason for not allowing to take more than two or three bowls full of flour and so on is that when it was in Shravasti, merchants arrived from the north, and the Six Groups of monks heard about it and begged clothes and food from them without restraint, causing the merchants to go hungry and become the target of offenses. Later, when in Shravasti, there was a householder who had married seven wives one after another, but all had passed away. Later, when he wanted to marry a wife, no one was willing to give him one. At that time, another householder had a daughter whose right eye was blind. No one wanted to marry her, so an old neighbor woman acted as a matchmaker and decided to marry her to the man whose wife had died. One of his friends said, "Why do you need to marry that daughter with the blind right eye? There is a widow elsewhere, marry her and divorce the previous wife." While looking for an excuse to divorce the wife, the date for welcoming the bride arrived, and the days were full. The daughter's parents also prepared the dowry to send the daughter, and were preparing, when the venerable Six Groups of monks arrived and shouted, "Give us the food for going to welcome the bride!" Without restraint, they took a lot of flour and food. After that, twelve groups of nuns also came to beg, and the food for the wedding feast was used up. They apologized to the groom, saying that if they gave it according to the agreed time, they would give it according to the previous time. This also found an excuse for quarreling, divorced the previous wife, and married the widow. After that, no one wanted to marry that daughter with the blind right eye. When things turned out like this, the neighbors mocked, saying, "The daughter was married off because no one wanted to marry her, but the Six Groups of monks interfered." After hearing these mockeries, the Buddha rebuked them, saying that this was not the conduct of a Shramana. After that, it was stipulated that even if a householder offered out of faith, they were not allowed to take more than three bowls of food. Bhikshu refers to the Six Groups of monks, and others similar to them. Many refers to two or more. Village refers to Brahmana.
