He joyfully preached the Dharma without weariness. Then the patron was delighted, and the group of six monks also arrived again. The patron bestowed upon each of them a piece of clothing, and the group of six monks became arrogant as a result. The monks, having heard of this, ridiculed them, and thus it was prescribed that when building a monastery, the layers of adobe and plaster should not exceed two or three. Furthermore, "what is a monk" refers to the group of six monks, as well as others similar to them. "Monastery" refers to a place that possesses the four postures (walking, standing, sitting, and lying down). "Great" refers to two situations: generosity and large scale. "Construction" refers to building by oneself or others. "Gatehouse and fixed residence" refers to the gatehouse and fixed residence that existed from the beginning. "The concept of the appearance arising first" refers to having windows and water holes first. "Build two or three layers starting from the foundation" means that adobe and plaster should not exceed two or three layers. If it exceeds, know that it is a transgression. "Increase" refers to the size of the plaster and adobe, which are types of monasteries. For monasteries built from the foundation, or monasteries built of brick or stone, or if the owner of the monastery builds quickly, there is no offense. The twelfth chapter of the offenses of the seed category is complete. The origin of teaching the Dharma to nuns without permission: It occurred in Shravasti. At that time, the Blessed One said to the elder monks, "Take turns teaching the Dharma to the nuns." When it was the turn of the group of six monks, they spoke a little, and the nuns were displeased upon hearing it. Having heard this, it was no longer allowed for the group of six monks to take turns preaching. They taught the Dharma to the nuns themselves without permission, and it was later prescribed that permission should be granted through solicitation and two appointments. The group of six monks solicited outside the boundary, appointed each other, and then taught the Dharma to the nuns. This was also not allowed. Within the boundary, for the sick, they accepted their faith, and for others, they kept them busy, teaching the Dharma to the nuns. Therefore, it was prescribed that from now on, without being appointed by the Sangha within the boundary through solicitation and karma as a teacher of nuns, it is not allowed to teach. Monk

They appointed nuns who were not proficient or intelligent as teachers of the nuns, because I do not know, I am not tamed, so there is no place to pacify others, therefore that became the object of fault, and it was taught: Appoint (a nun) who possesses five qualities! What are the five? Namely, possessing morality, being learned, being like an elder king, knowing the language of the city, and not engaging in impure conduct with nuns and not displeasing them. Possessing morality means not having committed a root downfall. Being learned means being able to extensively explain the Pratimoksha and being able to recite it. Being like an elder king means having received full ordination and being twenty years old or older. Knowing the language of the city means knowing many languages. Not displeasing the nuns means not engaging in impure conduct with the body. If one possesses these five qualities, then appoint them as a teacher. So-called not possessing such qualities, refers to the venerable Lam-stan, whom the Blessed One dusted with dust. Dusted with the dust of anger, these two Dharma phrases could not be learned even after studying for three months, later the Blessed One made Lam-stan fully learn and directly realize Arhatship. Lam-stan was appointed as the teacher of the nuns, causing the nuns to abide in the truth. The retinue also attained from Arhatship to Stream-enterer, so the former is the enactment, this is the permission. So-called Bhikshu refers to the group of six, and others are similar to this. So-called not appointed means that the Sangha did not appoint through the Karma of request and solicitation. So-called Bhikshuni refers to one who has entered this Dharma. So-called admonishment refers to teaching the Dharma with higher discipline, higher concentration, and higher wisdom. So-called not possessing such qualities, refers to seeing the truth and showing that there is fruit, like Lam-stan, even if not appointed, it is permitted. Continuing: It is the same as before. What is the fault? If a monk appoints outside the boundary of the Sangha, and does not appoint within the boundary, then the Sangha will commit a The teacher will commit a downfall. Within the boundary, the Sangha assembles lawfully, and those who do not possess the five qualities...
