It should also be done this way. The essence of the place and the heart is the entirety of discipline, which should be combined here. "Entirety" refers to categories, objects, and minute details, etc. These are all places, or where the body is mindful, therefore Pratimoksha is called the place. "Heart" refers to an analogy like the supreme. For example, the supreme within the body is the heart. Similarly, it becomes the heart of all disciplines, or like the supreme, so the analogy is like the heart. "Essence" means completely, also like the main, or like being powerful and difficult to destroy, or like a word that can be examined. How is it like the main? Among all disciplines, Pratimoksha is like the main or the most supreme. How is it stable and difficult to destroy? Because shramanas and heretics, etc., with wrong views cannot distinguish and destroy it. How to view it as examinable? Because the Tathagata's discipline has no faults, defilements, and impurities mixed in, and its nature is completely pure, so it is not like worldly words that cannot examine the Dharma, so it is called essence. Place and essence have the same meaning, they are synonyms for merit. What is it? The Sutra says it is Pratimoksha. Therefore, it shows that this Pratimoksha is different from other disciplines and other Vinaya Pitakas. Among them, the sound of Pratimoksha refers to liberation from the faults of afflictions, the three lower realms, and the five kinds of downfall, or taming these faults, so it is also called liberation, and also called discipline. Or, different beings each abide in vows, those who obtain the fruit of Pratimoksha, so it is also called Pratimoksha. Or, because it is called Prati (Sanskrit transliteration) in Indian language, or a compliant word is also acceptable, for liberation, or complete liberation, that is, liberation from completely surrounding latent afflictions. Among them, some people may think like this, if latent afflictions are abandoned by wisdom, then how can it be said that they are abandoned by discipline? Although it is said that abandoning and abandoning subtle latent afflictions with wisdom.

The Vinaya is also the basis and place of all dharmas, and there are two types of afflictions: indirect abandonment and direct abandonment. Therefore, in this case, the Vinaya also indirectly becomes the cause of abandonment, so there is no fault. Therefore, "One should abide in discipline, and one should realize samadhi," this is from the verses, because discipline is like the earth, an indispensable foundation. If someone says, aren't the sutras and abhidharma also called Pratimoksha? In order to show the difference between them, the sutras are distinguished from them by seven aspects. These seven aspects are: the body of the Vinaya, the place of the Vinaya, the object of the Vinaya, the nature of the Vinaya, the characteristic of the Vinaya, the beginning of the Vinaya, and the fruit of the Vinaya. Among them, the body refers to the fact that the Pratimoksha is the body of all Vinaya. The place of the Vinaya refers to regarding the Pratimoksha itself as the place of the Vinaya, or the place of one hundred and one karmas and requests. The object of the Vinaya refers to being especially careful to protect against even the smallest offenses and to guard against them. The five kinds of downfalls are the nature of the Vinaya. The characteristic refers to the one hundred and one karmas. The beginning of the Vinaya refers to being in Shravasti and other places, that is, where the precepts are established. The fruit of the Vinaya refers to obtaining the fruit of liberation. These seven aspects distinguish the sutras. "This is the King of the True Dharma," the King of the True Dharma here refers to the Pratimoksha itself. Why are the sutras and abhidharma not called kings, but the Vinaya is called the king? Because the Vinaya is the basis or root of all dharmas, and all dharmas depend on it and arise, so it is the main one, so it is called the king. Or, the King of the True Dharma refers to the Tathagata himself. Why? Because he has sovereignty and ownership over all dharmas, and all beings such as gods and humans receive teachings from him, so he is the king. Such a dharma is supreme, so it is the Supreme Dharma. "Neither abbreviated nor elaborated" refers to the fact that the Tathagata previously realized
