It is appropriate to use. Then, the messenger reported, "Venerable, I was instructed to ask you for clothes, please allow me to go and get them." Then, the Bhikshu went to the person in charge of distribution and urged, "Ayushman, I need clothes," urging two or three times. If given, that's good, if not given, stay in the direction where there seem to be five or six places to go. There are four places that appear. There are six doors of urging. What are the places that appear? They are the houses, fields, and places of work where one resides. The six doors of urging are: "Have you come?" Answer: "For that reason." "Have you come in peace?" Also answer: "For that reason." "Please sit on this seat," also answer: "For that reason." "Do you need to prepare anything?" Also answer: "For that reason." "Do you want to eat something?" Also answer: "For that reason." "Do you want to drink something?" Also answer: "For that reason." These six are the doors of urging, and one should say these words quickly. If the other person does not understand, then the six doors are not complete. Do not rush, speak slowly, and if the other person understands the meaning, then the six doors are complete. If it is still not successful, then request after that, and if you get it, it is called a Nissaggiya Pacittiya, which means abandoning the object and confessing the offense. After that, if the clothes are still not successful, go back to where you came from initially, which means, "I will send my disciple." "Ayushman, I have not been able to accomplish anything with the goods you entrusted to me," which means that it has not helped with medicine for the sick, etc. This is called attention, which is the Dharma that corresponds to it. The situation that leads to becoming an offense is: if the donor is a person, the messenger is also a person, and the Bhikshu is also a person, then it becomes an offense. If a person gives and a non-human acts as a messenger, or if a non-human gives and a person acts as a messenger, and it is allowed, then it becomes a Dukkaṭa offense. If you do not get it after five or six times, and then request it later and get it, it will become an offense, but there are also situations where it will not become an offense from other aspects, that is, if you work hard through letters more than five or six times, and get the clothes, it will become a Dukkaṭa offense. Similarly, gestures and passing it from one person to another will also become a Dukkaṭa offense. A Bhikshu to a mad householder, a drunkard, a person afflicted with illness, a person with a disturbed mind,

For fools, mutes, those in meditative absorption, non-Buddhists, and those residing elsewhere, even if one obtains robes after requesting more than six times, it constitutes an offense. Taking from materials and types of robes that are not allowed also constitutes an offense. This is the first chapter of the Sanghika Robe Chapter of Expiation. Starting from the chapter on mats, the origin of making mats from silk is that the Blessed One was residing in Jeta Grove in Shravasti. At that time, many monks were having others make Sarpa mats from silk. Due to the multitude of tasks, it hindered their recitation and memorization of scriptures. Moreover, due to their attachment to good silk mats, they sought expensive and rare bedding and begged from others in order to obtain good mats. As a result, many lives were killed. Later, non-Buddhists ridiculed, saying, "Who would be willing to give alms to these shaven-headed ascetics?" The monks heard these unpleasant words and reported them to the Blessed One. The Blessed One rebuked them, saying, "Stop!" and said, "Difficult to satisfy, difficult to fill." Then he praised contentment and the merit of enjoying practice, and praised merit. Again, any monk should study the Vinaya. Again, "monk" refers to many monks, and other situations are similar to this. "Sarpa mat" refers to Sarpa having two aspects: Sarpa itself is Sarpa, and the acquired object itself is Sarpa. Here, it refers to Sarpa itself. "Making Sarpa mats from silk" refers to having linings and being sewn. "Making" refers to oneself or others making it. Expiation refers to abandoning the object and then confessing the offense. The offense refers to the silk piled up like a mountain, or opening, destroying, wearing out, or having someone wear it out. Until the mat is completed, it constitutes a misdeed. Once completed, it constitutes an offense of expiation. Obtaining what has been made, using what has been made, and repairing old ones are without offense. Having others make it, making it for others, having others complete what has not been completed, and having laypeople make it all constitute misdeeds. Giving the precepts, the father of a novice monk, the mother of a novice monk, and making mats from silk from a thief's place constitute misdeeds. For those residing elsewhere, non-Buddhists, and those who wander everywhere.
