It was not allowed to receive large (items), and after reporting, instructions were given: Give it to the blind monk's father as an exchange. Another monk named Proximity Joy, and others like him. Non-relatives refer to those within seven generations of parents; beyond that, they are not considered relatives. A bhikkhuni refers to someone who possesses the status of a bhikkhuni. Clothing refers to the seven types mentioned earlier. Apart from exchange, it refers to usage. After abandoning the item, one should confess the transgression, so it was said. If one accepts something from a non-relative while harboring doubt, it is a minor offense. Among the items offered to the Sangha, those that belong to oneself, those given in praise with poetry, those given to someone who has taken full ordination, those given out of suspicion of being stolen by thieves, those given in exchange with a friend, and those offered to someone with fame and merit by a bhikkhuni who says, 'Please accept this out of compassion,' without attachment, are without fault. There are also cases where taking clothes from a non-relative bhikkhuni does not require abandonment, such as a message, a letter, a gesture, cloth that is acceptable but disliked by the family, cloth that is unacceptable but liked by the family, both being unacceptable, a female novice, someone who has not taken full ordination; taking clothes from these individuals will always result in a minor offense. Giving instruction, and bhikkhunis creating discord, and those who follow, giving instruction to them results in an offense of expiation. The origin of the request is that the Blessed One was residing in Shravasti. At that time, there was a householder couple who discussed accumulating wealth, and the husband said to his wife, 'Good wife, prepare provisions, I am going to trade.' The wife also bid farewell to her husband. After he left, the wife exchanged provisions for two pieces of fine cloth, and as soon as she returned home, she gave them to her husband and instructed, 'Do not give this cloth to anyone.' Afterwards, she went to worship at Jeta Grove Monastery, and the gatekeeper of Jeta Grove also praised the cloth as fine. Proximity Joy was also wandering and sitting at the gate of Jeta Grove Monastery, and seeing her coming from afar, he thought, 'I must obtain this cloth.' The householder came like a waxing moon.

Saying "Excellent!", because Bhikshu Nanda (bsnyen dga' bo) was naturally skilled at preaching the Dharma, he spoke of the merits of giving, and that person developed faith and promised to offer a noble person's robe as a reward. Bhikshu Nanda said, "Please give me this robe you are wearing." That person then gave a piece of cloth. Since he had already given, there was no merit in enjoying the gift, because when the robe was hung on the rack, it secretly left, and a piece of cloth was also secretly given, you are like a naked person, like the footprints of livestock, go into the dust!", he scolded him severely. That person also left as he said. He met the gatekeeper and asked, "Is there any good clothing?" The gatekeeper replied, "Bhikshu Nanda robbed it through preaching the Dharma." Those who did not believe began to mock him. After that, the householder Anathapindada (mGon med zas sbyin) set out to pay homage to the Buddha and went to the gate of Jeta Grove (dze ta'i tshal), and asked the gatekeeper, "What did you see?" The gatekeeper said, "I didn't see anything else, but a thief came here." Bhikshu Nanda said, "I preached the Dharma to the householder and took the cloth from the householder." The householder Anathapindada felt that this behavior was inappropriate, so he reported to the Buddha to establish precepts, thereby establishing a place for studying the Vinaya. What is "again, a Bhikshu"? It is the root words. What is "untimely"? From the forty wandering Patika Bhikshus, robbers stole their robes, and they had no robes. Because we are not allowed to beg from laypeople, we beg from Bhikshu friends in Jeta Grove. After this matter was reported to the Buddha, the Buddha said, "From now on, if the robe is stolen by thieves, or lost, or burned by fire, or washed away by water and is gone, then it is the time to beg, so it is said 'untimely'." What is "again, a Bhikshu"? It is Bhikshu Nanda, and others similar to him. What is "improper"? The situation of the seven types of robes is the same as before. What is "householder"? It is a man. What is "wife"? It is a woman. What is "untimely"? It is use. What is "the Dharma robe being stolen by thieves" etc.? It is being taken by others and not being possessed by oneself. What is "Nissaggiya Pacittiya"? It is abandoning the item and confessing the offense. What is "offense"? It is value, color, and thickness. If a Bhikshu begs for a robe worth ten Karshapanas (kArShApaNa) or fifty Karshapanas, and it is successful, he will commit a Nissaggiya Pacittiya offense.
