It is one. Regarding the matter of "threatening with weapons," who is threatened? It is men, women, and hermaphrodites. Regarding the matter of "causing death," it is those who uphold the precepts, those who have broken the precepts, and the sick. How does it apply to those who have broken the precepts? A monk desires the robes, bowl, and utensils of a monk who has broken the precepts, thinking, "If this precept-breaker stays for long, I won't get his utensils, so let him die." Thinking, "The longer this sinful, precept-breaking person lives, the more non-virtuous deeds and sins will arise from his body, speech, and mind, and he will be reborn in hell." Therefore, he advises, "O venerable one, kill yourself, end your own life." If he kills himself, the talkative monk will be defeated. If he doesn't kill himself, it will be a grave offense. If he later regrets it and says, "O venerable one, I spoke wrongly, don't kill yourself," then from the very beginning, it will be a grave offense. How does it apply to those who uphold the precepts? Thinking, "If this precept-holder lives for long, he won't give me his utensils, so let him die." Thinking, "O venerable one, you who are perfect in precepts, your stay here is like a good harvest year. Heaven is as close as a piece of cloth, and liberation is as close as a curtain. If you leave your body, you will be reborn among the gods. Kill yourself, end your own life." After advising thus, if he kills himself, the talkative monk will be defeated. If he doesn't kill himself, it will be a grave offense. How does it apply to the sick? Because the monk desires the robes and utensils of the sick person, thinking, "If this sick person stays for long, I won't get his utensils." Thinking, "O venerable one, the longer this sick person stays, the more he will be tormented by suffering and experience pain. End your own life." If he kills himself, the instigator will be defeated. If he doesn't kill himself, it will be a grave offense. Thus, it is called "causing death." "Praising death" is:
