Except for that, climbing higher than any tree is not allowed. When in Shravasti, a householder invited the Sangha for a meal. Venerable Nanda took the food from the monastery caretaker. The monastery caretaker thought, "Today I will reduce the food." So he measured the steps from Jeta Grove to Shravasti. The monastery caretaker also approached evening, climbed a tree to look, and saw Venerable Nanda coming slowly. Then he went down and said, "You thought I would reduce the food, so you came slowly. I climbed the tree and saw you." After reporting this, climbing trees was forbidden. After this prohibition, the monks did not do things like changing the color of their robes. Later, they were allowed to climb to a certain height. Because they were allowed to climb to a certain height, a monk was traveling on the road with many guests. On the way to the monastery, because he was afraid of a tiger, he did not climb up and was killed by the tiger. After this happened, it was reported, and it was allowed to climb higher than anyone in times of disaster. These are words for not forgetting many precepts. From the chapter on Pratimoksha, the objects of the Vinaya are volumes fifty-eight, fifty-nine, and sixty, in which the objects of dispute are extensively discussed. Please look there. Starting from the seven things mentioned to pacify disputes, it is said: Dispute is of four kinds: dispute of fighting, dispute of not teaching, dispute of arising faults, and dispute of actions. Among them, the cause of fighting and conflict is that the Blessed One was staying in Kapilavastu, and in the afternoon, he taught the Dharma to King Suddhodana and the great Shakya figures. In the morning, it was Prajapati and the wives of the great Shakya figures. At that time, among the Shakya women, there was a girl who was always repeatedly playing with a string of pearls around her neck, holding it with her hands. Prajapati saw this and, in order to break her pride, sent her own pearl necklace, "Mangajhuma Sungma," to take it. The girl was also interrupted from listening to the Dharma and left unhappily, being blown by the wind on the road.

Thus it is. Immediately after that, she was born as the daughter of the King of Simhala, and when she was born, her country was showered with pearls, so her name was also named Pearl Woman. At a later time, about five hundred merchants went to sea, and their boat was blown by the wind to the island of Shingala. They recited the scriptures aloud at dusk and dawn, and the girl heard it and exclaimed, "Emaho! Such a beautiful song, the people of the land of Simhala, this is not a song, but the Dharma of the Buddha's teachings." Then, she extensively praised the virtues of the Buddha, and the girl asked the merchants to send a message and letter to the Buddha, and sent the image of the Buddha's body and the verses of the twelve links to the Pearl Woman, and she also saw the truth. Then, as a return gift, the girl offered three measures of pearls to the Buddha and the Three Jewels, and the Buddha's relics were placed in the incense chamber for fumigation. The relics of the Sangha were distributed separately. When the saying "the gains of the Dharma belong to the speaker of the Dharma" arose, the Vinaya holders, the Sutra masters, and the Mother masters each argued that it should belong to themselves, thus a fight and dispute broke out, eventually leading to a quarrel. Later, when the Buddha was residing in Shravasti, the monks in Vaishali were fighting and disputing. The Venerable Shariputra and Maudgalyayana heard about this and tried to reconcile them, but the Blessed One commanded, "Monks, you should pacify such disputes." In short, the point of contention was the judgment of Dharma and non-Dharma, which eventually split into two factions and led to fighting. Because of quarreling and disputing, it is called "disputing because of quarreling," and the root of quarreling is six, namely six roots and fourteen things that cause division. What are the six roots of quarreling? They are anger and holding grudges, concealing and being annoyed, jealousy and stinginess, hypocrisy and deception, being shameless and disregarding shame, and being attached to sin and being arrogant with wrong views as self. The fourteen things that cause division are: "This is Dharma," and "This is Dharma
