A mendicant was carrying some good food given by a Bhikkhuni named Utpalavarna (Tibetan: ཨུཏྤ་ལའི་མདོག་), when the Venerable Nanda (Tibetan: བསྙེན་དགའ་བོ) saw him and asked, "Who gave you this?" The mendicant replied, "Utpalavarna (Tibetan: ཨུཏྤ་ལིའི་མདོག་) gave it to me." Therefore, that day, the Venerable Nanda went begging again, thinking, "First I will offer it to the Sangha, and then I will eat what is left." The Venerable Nanda waited on the road and begged for food. Because he had no food for two days and was exposed to the sun, his body became weak, and he could not walk, so he fell in the street. The worldly people saw this and mocked, saying, "The Shakyabhikshuni (Tibetan: དགེ་སློང་མ་ཤཱཀྱ་གཞོན་ནུ་) fainted from lust." Therefore, from then on, Bhikkhunis were forbidden to go to villages to beg for alms, and a precept was established. Here, "Bhikkhu" refers to the Venerable Nanda (Tibetan: བསྙེན་དགའ་བོ་), and others like him. "Non-relative" refers to relatives beyond seven generations of parents. "Bhikkhuni" refers to Utpalavarna (Tibetan: ཨུཏྤ་ལའི་མདོག་), and others like her. "Street" refers to the street. "Practicing alms in the village" refers to villages with streets, crossroads, and four-way intersections. "With one's own hand" refers to taking from hand to hand. "Food and drink" refers to the five kinds of food and the five kinds of drink. "Accepting" refers to accepting alms. "Eating or drinking" refers to swallowing into the throat. "That Bhikkhu" refers to whoever it is. "The outer monastery" refers to the monastery outside, that is, the Sangharama, go to the Sangharama. "In the presence of the Bhikkhus" refers to the Bhikkhus residing in that Sangharama. "Go" refers to confessing to all the Bhikkhus residing there. "Reproach" refers to being reproached because of the mistake made. "Inappropriate" refers to violating the vows. "Confessing separately" refers to confessing to many Bhikkhus. The downfall in this case is: if a Bhikkhu sees a non-relative Bhikkhuni on the road, coming to beg for alms, with the thought of her being a non-relative, he accepts food and drink with his own hand, and eats or drinks it, he commits the offense of confessing separately. If he doubts whether the Bhikkhuni is a non-relative, he should also confess. If he thinks she is a relative, or has doubts, he commits a minor offense.

If. The first separate confession. The second separate confession is that it is not allowed for a bhikkhuni to help bhikkhus eat or to arrange it in advance. The story took place in Shravasti. A householder invited the Sangha for a meal. The next day, the group of six bhikkhus came to the place of the bhikkhuni Sthūlanandā and twelve others, and instructed them, "Because the faithful householders have invited the Sangha in general, you should let us have more delicious food." They did as they were told, and after preparing the food, when the householder was distributing the food, Sthūlanandā, being old and weak, sat there and said to the householder, "This noble one is from the Shakya clan, has gone forth, is versed in the three pitakas, and has the confidence to be liberated by reason. Give him also." In the same way, she praised all the good qualities of the group of six bhikkhus and helped them with food. At that time, some bhikkhus lacked food, some lacked burdens, and some did not get food at all. At that time, those bhikkhus who had not abandoned their defilements and were tormented by desires scolded the householder, saying, "If you have no money, why do you offer food to the Blessed One and the Sangha of bhikkhus?" The householder said, "I prepared a lot of food, but Sthūlanandā repeatedly helped the group of six bhikkhus, so that's how it happened." The bhikkhus heard this and reported, "In that case, bhikkhus, instruct the bhikkhuni to remain silent until the bhikkhus have finished eating." After that, if none of the bhikkhus present speak, then all the bhikkhus must confess. This is the training place established by the Vinaya. The term "many bhikkhus" refers to two or more. The term "house" refers to the house of a Brahmin or a householder. The term "invited for a meal" refers to inviting five kinds of food and five kinds of drinks. At that time, if a bhikkhuni is instructing and sitting, that is Sthūlanandā, or someone similar to her. The term "bhikkhu" refers to those who are sitting there. The term "bhikkhuni" refers to Sthūlanandā or anyone else. The term "saying this to her" refers to preventing her from saying "she." The term "remaining silent until the meal is finished" refers to stopping.

English
"Oda" means not to let people speak during meals. "Even one bhikkhu should not speak to that bhikkhuni" means that even one bhikkhu who has eaten his fill should not speak. "Drive all those bhikkhus out to the outer monastery" means that there is a temple outside the city, drive them there, and confess there to as many bhikkhus as possible. The offense is: if some bhikkhus are eating and sitting upstairs, and some bhikkhus are eating and sitting in the middle room, and that bhikkhuni says this, the bhikkhus should admonish the bhikkhuni not to speak. If this is not done, they will each confess separately. If some bhikkhus are eating in the lower room, and some bhikkhus are eating and sitting in the doorway, and there is a bhikkhuni admonishing and sitting there, she should be admonished not to speak. If even one bhikkhu does not admonish, all the bhikkhus must confess separately. If that bhikkhuni is a benefactor, or is giving alms in turn, there is no offense, this is the second separate confession. The third separate confession is: the origin of not allowing begging in the house where the bhikkhu has given the training precepts is that in a vast place, there was a householder named Lion, who was formerly devoted to and fond of heretics. Later, the Blessed One preached the Dharma to that merchant leader, and he saw the truth and developed great faith in the bhikkhu sangha, and even if heretics came, he would close the door. If Shakya's bhikkhus and shramanas came, he would invite them in, give them what they wanted, and constantly engage in giving, because he gave up trade and farming and other work, that householder also reduced his enjoyment and became poor. Then, at a later time, the Shakya people, being poor, began to act, and the heretics mocked, "This merchant leader Lion, when he used to believe in heretics, was rich and wealthy, but now that he believes in the Dharma, he has become poor." This matter was reported to the Blessed One, and this became the object of offense, so he said to the bhikkhus, "From now on, do not go to the house of that benefactor who believes in the truth, do not eat food, go begging."
