Those two were also treated as teachers. Shariputra (Śāriputra) always went on time, and Kāśyapa (Kātyāyana) also always went on time. Once, the king went to another place, and before dawn, the sound of horses and elephants and the clamor of many people came. The long-lived Kāśyapa thought in his dream that it was dawn, so he went to the concubine's place. The concubine was sleeping, and he went to the concubine with the jewel lamp and woke her up with a clapper. The concubine also got up in a hurry, asking while changing clothes, received the offering, filled Kāśyapa's bowl with food, and then Kāśyapa went back. Shariputra came to fetch water, and the two met on the road. Shariputra asked Kāśyapa, can you still cut off afflictions like this? Kāśyapa went to the temple, and other monks asked him where he had gone, and he said he had gone to the king's palace. Asked when he went, he said it was before dawn. Asked if that was okay, he said, even the king is okay, look if the bowl is full. The monks changed from ridicule to praise, and from then on it was stipulated that before dawn, before the jewel lamp and the weapons of the guards were put away, the palace gate should not be opened without authorization. Also, the bhikshu is called Kāśyapa, and others are like him. Before dawn means that the day is not over. The dawn has not appeared means that it has not appeared, and there are three kinds of dawn, namely blue, yellow and red. Blue dawn means that blue appears first. After that, the appearance of yellow is the yellow dawn. After that, the brief appearance of red is the red dawn, and at that time, red is taken as a sign. Jewel means that jewels, lapis lazuli, pearls, etc. that illuminate sleep are called jewels. Like a jewel refers to swords, bows and arrows, spears, all musical instruments, and all enemy weapons are called like a jewel. Not collected means that those things were not collected by the guards.

Furthermore, any woman who is consecrated from the crown of the kingdom. The so-called "gate ban" has three aspects: the king's gate ban, the queen's gate ban, and the city's gate ban. If one transgresses the king's and queen's gate ban, one will incur a downfall. From the act of going to the king's and queen's residence, if one transgresses the city's gate ban, one will incur a misdeed. The so-called "except for circumstances" refers to subduing a king who does not believe or a queen who does not believe, or when the queen and ministers invite. If a bhikshu mistakes it for dawn when it is not dawn, or crosses the king's and queen's gate ban with hesitation, before the dawn has broken, each transgression will incur a downfall. If one mistakes it for not dawn when it is dawn, or crosses with hesitation, one will incur a misdeed. If one is afflicted by eight great obstacles and transgresses the gate ban, there is no downfall. When reciting the Pratimoksha Sutra, one is not allowed to say, "I have just heard this now." This story originated in Shravasti. At that time, the Blessed One said to the bhikshus, "Go forth and recite the Pratimoksha every half month." Then, when the group of six bhikshus recited the Pratimoksha Sutra, they drew pictures, did not listen to the Dharma, did not respect the teachers, were inattentive, and blocked their ears, not listening. Later, when reciting the Pratimoksha, the group of six bhikshus said, "These words come from the Pratimoksha, I have just learned this now," meaning they had not heard them before. The bhikshus said, "In the past, at the place of the Uposatha, you have stayed for two or three times, haven't you heard these?" In order to make them listen respectfully, the bhikshus ridiculed them and reported to the Blessed One. The Blessed One rebuked them, saying, "You who have life, you have not found it! You have not found it well!" After rebuking them in many ways, he established the precepts for learning the Vinaya. Furthermore, the so-called "bhikshu gan" refers to the group of six, and others similar to them. "Half month half month" refers to the time of the Uposatha. The "Pratimoksha Sutra" refers to the five categories of downfalls, from the four root downfalls to the cessation of disputes. "Explaining the Sutra" refers to explaining the Sutra accurately. "When reciting" refers to proclaiming loudly.
