After going, he said to the children, "Your learning archery is entering the peak of learning, it's very good. Let me see, front shot, back shot, right shot, left shot, and the five arrows shot, do you know or not? If you are asked to shoot, you don't know any of them. Turning your head, turning your hands, turning your face, very dissatisfied. Children, you are like holding up shields, useless." After that, I (referring to the person in the story) saw a crow flying into the sky, and shot an arrow each in front and behind the crow, shooting at the image, one of the arrows hit the crow, and the crow died. Those people's teacher came later, their hearts filled with resentment, so they came here, saying: "You are like holding up shields, useless." That person said: "If it weren't for this, there would be no one more proficient in archery in Jambudvipa than him. You can't compare with him, let me teach you what I know for now." After advising like this, fearing that he would be blamed later, he thought of a way, advising the students: "You also have a way to learn that archer's archery method, hang the crow's corpse on the tree, and when that archer goes from where to where to beg for alms, you follow behind him and watch his archery method." After announcing this, they also did as he said. The son of the monk Shakya is like a hunter, without compassion! Being slandered like this, it reached his ears, and it was forbidden to kill sentient beings, so the place for learning the precepts was established. Also, the monk, that is, the archer, is also someone who has entered this Dharma. Intentionally thinking, that is, also being aware that it is a sentient being, and also harboring a murderous intent. The place of birth of a beast, that is, a crow, or any other beast. Killing is taking life. The offense is that if a monk has a murderous intent towards something that has become a place of birth for a beast, even if he hits it with a mustard seed or a rapeseed seed, causing it to die, he will completely fall. The origin of the rule that a monk is not allowed to cause another monk to feel regret is that in Shravasti, seventeen groups of monks and six groups of monks, without knowing each other, resided there and

They make offerings. At that time, if Charka entrusted someone with a task, (they) would say, "You are not our teacher," and (Charka) did not listen. Charka drove them away and scolded them, saying, "We are despised by those with little knowledge." In order to seek hearing, (they) received teachings from another monk and explained the situation. Then, Loken asked, "Where have those children gone?" Charka replied, "I did not listen to them, so I drove them away." Loken said, "That is not good, it is like waking a sleeping snake. What is the point of driving them away? They will harm us." Charka said, "I can stop them from speaking." Then he went to those children and asked, "Children, what are you doing?" (The children replied:) "We are seeking hearing." (Charka asked:) "What does hearing do?" (The children replied:) "The faculties will mature." (Charka asked:) "What does that do?" (The children replied:) "It will generate undefiled wisdom." (Charka asked:) "What does that do?" (The children replied:) "One will realize Nirvana." Charka said, "What you hear is unheard, and what is unheard is heard. Since you have taken the vows of a monk before the age of twenty, you have not taken the vows of a monk. Haven't you heard that the monks have also passed away? If you have not become a monk, what is the use of listening?" (The children) understood in their hearts, felt regret, and sat down. Their teacher came and asked, "Why are you sad and sitting here?" Charka explained in detail, "They said this." The teacher said, "There is no fault in the first offense, so you have no fault, do not doubt." (The monks) heard (Charka) being rebuked for mocking "Why make the monks feel regret," (Buddha) therefore established the precepts, not allowing monks to cause regret. Again, "monk" refers to Charka, or others similar to him. "Intentionally thinking" refers to thinking in the mind about what to do. If one thinks of doing something unpleasant and regrets it, then everything will be lost. If someone who is not a monk, because of committing Parajika and other offenses, causes a monk to feel regret, then whether regret arises or not, even for the sake of joking, one will fall.
