From "Ocean," it is said, up to "One should strive to listen to the Pratimoksha," there are six types of divisions and explanations. These six are: the visible result, the invisible result, praising the Pratimoksha itself as the teacher, perfect leisure, perfect virtuous friend, and protecting and listening to the Pratimoksha with reverence and respect. Among these, from "The Buddha's discipline is like an ocean" downwards, up to "Like the iron hook of a young elephant," is related to the visible result. From "Residing like four steps of a staircase" upwards, is related to the invisible result. With the single verse "After I have passed into Nirvana," the Pratimoksha is praised as the teacher. The sound of "Buddha" refers to the perfect virtuous friend. By "Obtaining a human body and ordination are extremely rare, and perfect morality," perfect leisure is shown. "One should strive to listen to the Pratimoksha" means protecting the Pratimoksha with reverence and respect. As mentioned above, hearing the sound of the Buddha, obtaining a human body is extremely difficult, meeting a virtuous friend, and obtaining ordination, etc., are all extremely difficult. Similarly, listening to the Pratimoksha is also shown to be extremely difficult to obtain. To explain that perfect leisure is extremely difficult to obtain, it is said: "Even in billions of eons." Saying "billions of eons" is an analogy for how difficult it is to obtain the Pratimoksha. Even in billions of eons, or even more than that, a Buddha will not appear in the world. Even if one in a hundred were to appear, one would still be separated by karma and unable to meet the Buddha. Because meeting the Buddha and obtaining a human body are extremely difficult, the Buddha appears in the world, and there are methods of taming, but the Buddha does not appear. Or there are no teachings of the Holy Dharma for taming, therefore, the Pratimoksha is difficult to transmit and uphold. Pratimoksha means completely liberating from subtle afflictions, etc., therefore it is called Pratimoksha. Listening refers to the words.
