One should train in not climbing. Standing to urinate or defecate is not allowed, this was established because in Shravasti, Nanda (Ananda) urinated and defecated while standing. It is not allowed to discard urine, feces, etc. on green grass, this was established because when the Buddha was residing in Kapilavastu, Nanda (Ananda) asked the gardener for the garden, but the gardener refused. He was displeased, drank a purgative, filled a pot with vomit, smeared it with a broom, and smeared it all over the garden, making it impure. It is not allowed to pour urine, feces, etc. into the water, this was established because in Shravasti, Nanda (Ananda) was unable to have the washerman wash his clothes, so he drank a purgative, filled a pot with vomit, and poured it into the bathing pond, smearing it under the bathing stone slab. It is not allowed to climb a tree beyond one's own height, this was established because in Shravasti, a householder invited the Sangha, and Nanda (Ananda), having eaten beforehand, went to the monastery's steward to receive food, and in order to have the steward reduce the allocation of food, he slowly measured the road with his steps. At that time, the steward climbed up the Jeta tree to watch, because Nanda (Ananda) gave food in front of the later generations, and it was not allowed to speak about it because it could not be stopped. Except when harm occurs, it is not allowed to climb. A monk was traveling with a guest, and at night when they entered the monastery, a tiger appeared, and the guests climbed up tall trees. The monk knew that it was not allowed to climb, and only climbed halfway, and was eaten by the tiger. Venerable ones, I have finished explaining the many teachings that I have taught. Now, I ask you, venerable ones, are you content with these? I ask again, two or three times, are you content with these? If you, venerable ones, are content with these, why do you not speak, and it is regarded as consent. The words of asking whether the assembly is pure are similar to what is said later. In short, the memory of what has not been experienced, similarly, the essence of many things, like spreading out grass, should also be promised. Venerable ones, these seven dharmas for pacifying disputes arise from reciting the Pratimoksha Sutra every half month. Disputes arise from discord.

And, disputing over not giving teachings, and disputing over actions. These four disputes have seven methods to pacify them, which will be explained below. Among them, disputing due to disagreement means: When someone speaks about the gains obtained according to the Dharma, some monks say it belongs to the individual, while others think it belongs to the Dharma. Or, there is disagreement about the view of whether Dharma has self-nature or not, and the dispute arising from this is called disputing due to disagreement. Among them, not giving teachings means: a monk has committed an offense, but the preceptor and teacher do not give teachings, and the Sangha does not give permission to enter the karma. Disputes arising from concealing such things are examples. Among them, disputing due to offenses means: some monks say that a certain monk has committed a serious offense, but some deny it, some say they cannot remember clearly, and some say that a serious offense has not been committed, only a minor offense has been committed, thereby hindering the progress of the karma, leading to disputes. Among them, disputing due to actions means: when the Sangha is performing any karma of petition or request, disputes arise because the karma cannot proceed smoothly. For those who should be subdued in the presence, give subduing in the presence. In Rajagriha (present-day Rajgir, Bihar), the hunter's son, the black monk, and the group of six monks were bathing by the river. Their robes were mixed up, and they were drying them separately. The black monk stole the robes, and the group of six monks accused him of committing a Parajika offense. Therefore, the Buddha established the rule of pacifying disputes through direct confrontation. If some monks have committed offenses and they are concealed, then both parties should confront each other directly, mixing the good and the bad together, thereby pacifying the dispute. Among them, presence means that it is considered presence only when it possesses five conditions, namely Dharma, Vinaya, person, place, and Sangha. This is included in all four disputes. For those who should be subdued by mindfulness, give consent by mindfulness. In Rajagriha (present-day Rajgir, Bihar), when the wealthy monk Gyatso was distributing the Sangha's bedding and food, two monks, namely the friend and the landowner, were angry because they received bad mattresses and poor villages due to their previous karma, and therefore accused the hunter of having signs of unchaste conduct, and slandered Gyatso and the nun friend of having unchaste conduct.
