It is like the back of the neck. One should learn to eat well. One should not eat food that is too small, nor should one eat food that is too large, one should learn to eat food that is moderate. One should learn not to open one's mouth while chewing food, one should learn not to open one's mouth. When the mouth is full of food, one should learn not to speak. These were all established in the land of Nyan. Eating well was established because the group of six monks were eating in the monastery and were criticized by faithful patrons. Eating too small portions was established because the group of six monks inappropriately ate in small portions like a new bride and were criticized. Eating too large portions was established because the group of six monks ate in the village and took giant mouthfuls, which was criticized. Eating moderately means avoiding the extremes of both large and small. Not opening the mouth while chewing food was established because when a patron invited the Sangha, there was a drum under the group of six monks, and when offering food to the Lama, he opened his mouth and Nye-dga-bo (a personal name) put a large lump of food in his mouth, which was criticized. Not speaking when the mouth is full of food was established because the group of six monks made noise with their mouths full of food, and the taste could not be discerned, which was criticized by others. One should learn not to make "tsuk tsuk" sounds, not to make "blchak blchak" sounds, not to make "hu hu" sounds, not to make "phu phu" sounds, and not to stick out the tongue while eating. These were also established in the land of Nyan. Not making "tsuk tsuk" sounds was established because when a single patron invited the Sangha, they offered sweet vegetables, and the group of six monks said the vegetables were sour and made throat sounds, which was criticized. Not making "blchak blchak" sounds was established because when a patron invited the Sangha and offered sour vegetables, the group of six monks made throat sounds and criticized the vegetables as being sweet, which was criticized. Not making "hu hu" sounds was established because when a patron invited the Sangha, they offered hot rice, and the group of six monks said the rice was cold and blew on it to heat it, which was criticized. Not making "phu phu" sounds was established because when a patron invited the Sangha, they offered cold rice, and the group of six monks said the rice was hot and pretended to blow on it, which was criticized. Not sticking out the tongue while eating was established because when the group of six monks ate in someone's home, they stuck out their tongues and licked their lips, which was criticized. One should not separate food like a leper, one should not criticize food, one should not move the cheeks, one should not make throat sounds, and one should eat food without cutting it in half.

One should learn in this way. The location is fixed in Shravasti. What should not be separated from the food is that when the group of six monks were eating, they scattered the rice and picked out from the food and ate it, hence it was established. What should not be criticized is that when eating at the householder's house, the group of six monks said, "This dish is sour, that dish is bitter," hence it was established. What should not be puffing the cheeks is that in the householder's house, the group of six monks passed food to each other, puffing their cheeks, hence it was established. What should not be making a smacking sound is that the householder made a sweet dish, but the group of six monks made a smacking sound saying, "It's so sour!", making the householder embarrassed, hence it was established. What should not be leaving leftover food is that in the householder's house, the group of six monks made the food like sake, half of it put in the mouth and half of it thrown into the bowl, hence it was established. One should not lick the hands, should not wipe the bowl, should not shake the hands, should not shake the bowl, should not eat by transforming into a stupa, one should learn in this way. These are also fixed in Shravasti. One should not lick the hands is that the group of six monks licked their hands in the householder's house, hence it was established. One should not wipe the bowl is the same. One should not shake the hands is that when the group of six monks were eating, they shook their hands, and the juice splashed on the robes of other monks, hence it was established. One should not shake the bowl is that when the group of six monks were eating, there was a monk who was not wearing a patched robe, and in order to make fun of him, when washing the bowl, they shook the water and made the robe dirty, hence it was established. One should not make it like a stupa is that a householder liked the teachings of the naked heretics, but later converted to Buddhism and invited the Sangha, and prepared a meal. The group of six monks made it like a stupa, erected a radish pillar, threw away the umbrella, and said, "This is the stupa leading to the evil realms," and then dismantled it and ate it, hence it was established. In short, there are four kinds of mockery, etc., there are also ten kinds of bowls, there are five kinds of stretching, etc., there are five kinds of covering the head, etc., there are those with belts, etc., and five kinds of mounts such as elephants, etc., six kinds of holding a staff, etc., and four kinds of sickness. The condensed sutra is like the back. In order to mock the bowl of the monk sitting next to him, one should not look, one should learn in this way. Hand
