One should teach (them) not to place the shinbone on the boy, not to bend the foot, not to put down the foot, not to expose the genitals, but to sit on a mat at home. Sitting on a mat without being told, when living in a certain place, there was a Brahmin who was very clean, and he bolted the door somewhere. After people went home, in order to make close people happy, (they) stepped on the bed with shoes, which caused the Brahmin to get angry. Even if called to the house, one should ask if it is okay to sit on the mat before sitting. Without checking the mat, because monks always come to the house of a fierce woman, (they) would spread a mat for the monk to sit on, and in order to make others live longer by touching it, (they) would put a child under the mat. This led to (people) sitting on it and dying without thinking. Not pressing down with the weight of the body refers to when the Buddha attained enlightenment and returned to the palace of Kapilavastu, when he used to offer food to the concubines, a monk stepped on the foot of the concubine who was forcibly grabbing the food and released it. Therefore, at another time, the concubine covered an unchecked stool with a mat and sent someone to call the Brahmin. When the Brahmin came, the concubine thought, if I let the Brahmin come, what will that bald-headed Shramana do? Then she insulted the person who was called. Then, she gave the Brahmin a bowl of yogurt and a bowl of flour, (the Brahmin) stood up and took it, and after eating it, thinking that I would break the chair, he pressed down with his weight and sat down violently, and as a result, he sank in with a "thump", and the flour and yogurt were spilled all over the place. Then, (the concubine) lifted his hands and feet and threw him into the pond. Do not cross the legs, do not cross the shins, this was established from the group of six monks. Do not cross the thighs, this was also established from the group of six monks, do not put one thigh on top of the other. The shinbone was also established from the group of six monks, do not put the front and back of the shinbone on top of the other. Do not bend the foot, this is because the group of six monks were sitting on a chair and bending their feet under the chair, when a female lay devotee bowed to them, she insulted them saying: 'It is wrong not to touch the feet.' When the bent foot touched the head, they measured from the neck to the buttocks with an elbow ruler, and they were ashamed because of this. Do not spread the legs, this is because when the female lay devotee bowed to the group of six monks

In the future, in order to make them prostrate one by one, the six groups stipulated to raise their feet and measure with the elbow as before. Covering the lower body, this was stipulated by the six groups, to cover the lower body. One should be taught to take food well, not intermittently, not as much as the dishes, not to reduce, not to look at the bowl, and regarding the holding and eating, not to take the bowl in the future. Also, do not cover the dishes with rice because of greed, nor cover the rice with dishes. When the Buddha was staying in the terrifying forest of White Umbrella Mountain, these rules arose in that place: Taking food well was when Prince Awakened Virtue invited the Sangha, in the prince's lotus palace, food was distributed on the foundation drawn with one hundred and one colors, and the six groups tilted the bowl, causing the vegetable soup to spill out, which led to the rule. Intermittently, it was when the six groups took food at the house of that prince, pouring vegetables on top of the bowl filled with rice, causing it to spill out, which led to the rule. Not as much as the dishes, it was when the six groups were at the house of that king, using vegetables to fill the bowl, and then pouring rice on top, causing it to spill out, which led to the rule. Reducing, it was when the six groups did not take vegetables when eating, and later, after a long time, shouted for vegetables, and mistakes were made when distributing the vegetables, which led to the rule. Looking at the bowl, it was when a householder in Shravasti invited the Sangha, and when distributing flour, the six groups took a lot of flour, and seeing delicious food being distributed under the pile of flour, they filled the bowl of a distracted monk next to them with a lot of food and wine, which led to the rule. Not taking the bowl in the future, it was when the six groups were begging for alms, taking the bowl without giving food, which led to the rule. Also, do not cover the dishes with rice because of greed, it was when a householder in Shravasti invited the Sangha, and the six groups covered the dishes with rice because of greed, which led to the rule. Covering the rice with dishes is also the same as before. In short, regarding food, there are six things to do well, and five kinds of behaviors such as smacking sounds, five kinds of behaviors that distinguish from grains, and five kinds of behaviors such as licking hands. The Compendium.
