Among them, happiness is said to be the cause of happiness because seeing and hearing the noble Sangha, making offerings and praises, one obtains great merit. The asceticism of those in harmony is happiness. Among them, the ascetic is what should be accomplished and practiced. However, the asceticism of the heretics, although causing the body to suffer, cannot eliminate afflictions, it is not like that. The asceticism of the renunciates is the three trainings, namely, higher discipline, higher mind, and higher wisdom. By accomplishing the asceticism of these three, one can be afflicted by afflictions and eliminate them. Among them, higher discipline is the collection of discipline. Higher mind is like the Sutra Pitaka. Higher wisdom is like the Mother Tantras. Among them, happiness is, as before, generating faith and practicing the asceticism of the noble ones, therefore obtaining great merit, hence it is called the cause of happiness. From "noble ones" onwards, until "becomes happiness," this one verse means that relying on a virtuous friend becomes the cause of happiness, and abandoning a non-virtuous friend becomes the cause of happiness, therefore it is taught. Seeing the noble ones is happiness, dwelling with the virtuous is happiness, if one does not see the foolish children, then it always becomes happiness. The noble ones are those who have completely abandoned afflictions, that is, the Arhats. Happiness is the basis of such qualities, therefore seeing them immediately gladdens the mind and one obtains merit for a long time, hence it is called the cause of happiness. Among them, the virtuous ones are the virtuous friends, that is, those who are not deceptive and are free from faults. Dwelling with them means being held by virtuous friends and doing meritorious deeds, hence it is called the cause of happiness. Among them, the foolish children are those who do what should not be done, that is, doing the ten non-virtuous actions and so on. If one does not see such ones, that is, does not rely on them, therefore there is no strife, hence it becomes happiness. Among them, the first two lines mean that relying on a virtuous friend becomes the cause of happiness, therefore it is taught. The latter two lines mean that abandoning a non-virtuous friend becomes the cause of happiness, therefore it is taught. Those endowed with discipline, and so on, until the Arhat is high.

One of the verses between "Seeing is happiness" is a presentation of the detailed classification of virtuous friends. Seeing those who possess discipline is happiness. Seeing those who are learned is happiness. Virtuous friends are noble ones, and there are two types. Which two? Conventional noble ones and ultimate noble ones. Conventional noble ones refer to yogis who abide in the limbs of tranquility and insight. Among them, those who possess discipline are those who have abandoned the seven actions of body and speech, and who do not engage in faults that are self-natured and co-emergent. Happiness means that, as before, the disciplined one becomes a state of harmlessness, so many beings feel at ease, rely on him and enter into virtue, therefore it is called the cause of happiness. Because it shows that when a monk becomes a state of harmlessness, even animals feel at ease, so people like hunters also act like monks, and harm animals. This is related to the limb of tranquility. Among them, being learned refers to being learned as it appears in the Sutra of Possessing Discipline, that is, to the aggregates, elements, sense bases, self and common characteristics, places and non-places, etc. In short, it refers to thoroughly hearing the teachings that should be renounced, which are free from attachment to form and possess defilements. Happiness means that the learned one can eliminate the wrong views, regrets, and doubts of others, therefore it is called the cause of happiness. In this way, by possessing discipline, it shows abiding in the limb of tranquility, and by being learned, it shows abiding in the limb of insight. From here on, the two roots are to show the ultimate noble ones. Also, seeing those who are liberated from desire, such as Arhats, is happiness. Arhat in Indian language is called "Arahan," which has two meanings: the one who has conquered the enemy and the one who is worthy of offering. But in this case, it refers to the one who is liberated from samsara by conquering the enemies of afflictions such as desire. Or, it also refers to the one who has attained the supreme state of Arhat. Seeing such a person, one will rejoice, be delighted, and act according to the teachings, therefore it is called the cause of happiness. From "the place of descent" to "the exhaustion of pride is happiness."

In between actions, there is a verse that explains the cause of attaining happiness and the cause of accomplishing happiness. Riverbank The river of happiness is happiness. The riverbank is as true as the riverbank. Bathing and drinking, etc., all accomplishments of the benefit of water are the attainment of happiness. Similarly, if one wants to attain the wisdom of liberation, one must abandon the two views of permanence and annihilation, like an uncomfortable riverbank. Like a happy riverbank, by understanding the meaning of dependent origination and aggregation through the Middle Way, one can attain liberation like water. This root explains that it is the cause of attaining happiness. The person who conquers with Dharma is happy. Attaining excellent wisdom is happy. The exhaustion of pride in self and what belongs to self is happy. The person who conquers with Dharma refers to a yogi who, like the above, desires to attain liberation and therefore practices the aspects that are not in harmony with the path and the antidote. Attaining wisdom refers to attaining the nature of wisdom that thoroughly distinguishes phenomena. The exhaustion of pride refers to, like the above, cutting off the banner of pride that clings to self and what belongs to self with the sword of attaining wisdom, therefore it is called the cause of happiness. From "deciding" below to "also happy," a verse explains that it is the cause of happiness because it possesses the qualities of practice. After deciding, subdue the senses, Much learning in quiet places, Dwelling in the forest, And the covering in old age is also happy. Deciding refers to taking a chosen deity. This is not just guarding for a period of time. Rather, it is guarding until the end of life, and not just for the sake of relying on others, but for the meaning of taking a chosen deity in order not to be devoured by demons and to abandon afflictions. This explains that the chosen deity initially vowed is completely pure. Subduing the senses refers to when dwelling in a quiet place, not only is the body secluded, but the five senses such as the mind are not distracted, guarding against the senses entering the merits of the five objects. This explains dwelling in a quiet place and subduing the senses. Much learning refers to being very skilled in the faults inherent in nature, as well as what should and should not be done, what should be abandoned and what should be practiced, antidotes, etc. This
