Unable to walk, he stood there forcibly, and the boy said, "I have no power over my wife either." Therefore, the disciplinary code was established by the monks of little desire. If one forcibly stands and watches in a place where impure conduct is practiced, it becomes a downfall. Looking at the evil deeds of animals is a misdeed. There is no fault in standing when chased by an enemy. Furthermore, if a monk knowingly stands in a secluded and sheltered place where evil deeds are committed, it is a downfall. When the Buddha was residing in Shravasti, a young incense seller took a wife, and not long after, one day he wanted to have intercourse with his wife. A monk saw him, and that monk hid behind the door and stood there. Then, when the husband and wife were engaging in impure conduct, the wife said, "The venerable monk is hiding behind the door." Therefore, the incense seller and the monks of little desire established the disciplinary code. There is no fault in standing out of fear, or if one is sick and unable to walk. Furthermore, if a monk gives food or drink from his own hand to a naked ascetic, a wandering mendicant, or a wandering nun, it is a downfall. When the Buddha and his retinue were traveling through the countryside, after teaching the Dharma to five hundred householders, they offered a meal to the Buddha and his retinue. The noble Ananda also assisted in distributing the food. The naked heretic women took food from Ananda and said, "O prince, have mercy on me, a miserable one, and give me some too." Ananda, without thinking carefully, gave one portion to the old naked heretic woman and two portions to the young naked heretic woman. The old woman said to the young woman, "Men naturally like young women, so this prince favors you too." Therefore, the disciplinary code was established by the monks of little desire.

(They) waited on the road and completely defeated the army of horses, vehicles, cows, and infantry. After that, the soldiers behind changed their path and fled because they were afraid of that bhikkhu. Then the king said, and those people also said, "They are afraid of that bald, fat, and reckless-speaking bhikkhu." After saying that, King Prasenajit asked the Blessed One for a favor and established the rule that monks should not watch the army with mindfulness. There is no offense in the soldiers walking around the monastery gate and the king and ministers calling them to eat and drink. If a monk goes to watch the army because of such a reason, then that monk should not stay in that army for more than two nights. If he stays longer than that, he commits an offense. When the Buddha was staying in Shravasti, an incident occurred: the city of the rocky mountain rebelled, and the king set up camp there. Then the ministers reported, "The householder Anathapindika is a person of great merit, and if he is here, the city of the rocky mountain can be conquered without any effort." The king also sent a letter to Anathapindika saying, "I want to see you." After that, because Anathapindika was unwilling to separate from the monks, the king also sent a letter to the Sangha, and the group of six monks agreed and went. After that, they also treated the four types of armies that appeared with contempt, and also said to the infantry, "Even the grass is different." Then they grabbed their necks and threw them to one side. After that, the king prayed to the Buddha, and for the sake of compassion, even if a monk comes to watch the army, he established the rule of remembering not to stay for a long time. There is no offense if the king does not let go, or if the queen, prince, ministers, and generals do not let go. When staying in that army for two nights, if the monk disrupts the deployment of the army, or disrupts the war deployment of the flags and the direction of the army, he commits an offense. When the Buddha was staying in Shravasti, those people from the rebellious rocky mountain city of King Prasenajit had not yet arrived, and the king had also set up camp there. After that, the householder Anathapindika stayed there and was very happy to meet the monks.
