You two should each contribute money for clothes. It would be very virtuous to put it together. Combine the money of those two and buy a large, good piece of clothing to wear. Then, those two combined the money for clothes. Fabricating afflictions in order to find good things. The wording of the text and the four types of transgressions are similar to what is mentioned later. For the sake of a monk, whether it be a king, a minister, a Brahmin, a householder, a townsperson, a regional person, a wealthy person, a merchant, or a captain, they may entrust the money for clothes to a messenger. Then, that messenger, carrying the money for clothes, goes to those monks, and upon arriving, says to the monk: "Venerable one, please be aware that this money for clothes has been sent to you by the king, minister, Brahmin, householder, townsperson, regional person, wealthy person, merchant, or captain, or by the captain named so-and-so. Out of compassion, please accept these." When he says these words, the monk says to the messenger: "O messenger with long life, monks are not allowed to accept money for clothes. If we can find suitable clothes at the right time, we will accept them." If that messenger says to the monk: "Venerable ones, is there anyone who serves the venerable ones?" The monk who desires clothes tells the messenger: "This person is the one who serves the monks, the one who serves these people." He points out the lay attendant of the monastery who serves. Then, that messenger, taking that money for clothes, goes to that important attendant, and upon arriving, says to that attendant: "O attendant with long life, please be aware. Use this money for clothes to buy such-and-such clothes, and then go to the monk named so-and-so, and give him the clothes to wear at the appropriate time." Having said this, the messenger thoroughly instructs and directs that attendant, and then goes to the place where that monk is, and upon arriving, says to the monk: "I have thoroughly instructed the one who serves the venerable one. Please go to him, and he will give you the clothes to wear at the appropriate time." When he says these words, the monk who desires clothes...

The monk went to the person who made the promise and said: Venerable one who makes the promise, I need clothes. Venerable one who makes the promise, I need clothes. Urge him two or three times, and remember! After urging him two or three times and remembering, if the clothes are made, that is good. If they are not made, then remain silent on the side that appears to be five or six times. In this way, remain silent on the side that appears to be four, five, or six times. If they are made, that is good, but if they are not made, then after that, search for the sake of making the clothes. If the clothes are made, then that is a Nissaggiya Pacittiya. If they are not made, then I will go to the place where the price of the clothes came from. Or send a reliable messenger and say: Venerable one, do you know? The price of the clothes that you sent for the monk named so-and-so, nothing has been done for that monk. Venerable ones, do not waste your own wealth! Admonish in this way. That is the time. When the Buddha was staying in Rajagriha, when the minister of King Bimbisara, the Brahmin Summer Dweller, was staying, the monk Nanda was the first to preach the Dharma and gave sixty copper coins. Nanda went to Shravasti, and after that sent a messenger with the copper coins. The messenger carried the copper coins to the place where Nanda was in the middle of the market. Because the monk did not touch gold and silver, Nanda gave them to a child who sold incense. After not too long, he said, bring the copper coins. He said: If I do not go to the assembly of the market, I will be punished. Venerable one, wait a little, I will return soon. Nanda rebuked him and took a long time to take out the copper coins. The incense-selling boy was late for the assembly, and sixty copper coins were deducted, thus reducing his original faith in the Dharma. Therefore, it was established that for the promiser or the one who does the work, one should urge him three times with reasons. If it is done, that is good, but if it is not done, one should not speak between the three times, and one should stand in the place where the one who does the work is and urge him with methods. It is necessary to have a reply together with the fact that the owner of the wealth has not sent it back. If it is sent, it can be accepted. If it is sent, then
