When there is a screen, if (a bhikkhu) is content to sit on a seat, if (another) bhikkhuni believes his words and says that he has committed a parajika, a sanghadisesa, a patayantika, or any of the three offenses, and the bhikkhu also admits to sitting there, and lets him commit a parajika, a sanghadisesa, a patayantika, or any of the three offenses, because he believes the bhikkhuni's words, whatever offense the bhikkhuni says to the bhikkhu, he lets him commit that offense. This is an uncertain dharma. When the Buddha was staying in Sravasti, the bhikkhu Charka went to beg for alms and went to the wife of a householder named Sbema. Sbema and the bhikkhu touched each other's knees and preached the Dharma to her. The bhikkhuni Saga saw it and thought: 'Although he has not committed an offense, he will be seen by unbelievers.' So she prayed to the Buddha to make a rule that in the future, one should not sit together with a woman with a screen alone. If a man and a woman, of different genders, have a screen, whether there is a seat or not, if someone accuses him of committing such an offense, whether the accuser is a bhikkhuni or a bhikkhu, it should be dealt with according to the Dharma. There are two kinds of bhikkhunis: bhikkhunis who have seen the truth, and bhikkhunis who do not lie knowingly for the sake of life. If it is said from four aspects, it will become a fixed dharma: namely, object, place, intention, and sense faculty. Among them, "together" refers to a bhikkhu and a woman together; "place" refers to a secluded screen; "intention" refers to being content to sit on a seat; other words are just connecting words. Furthermore, if a bhikkhu is with a woman, alone, in a secluded screen, not content to sit there, if (another) bhikkhuni believes his words and says that he has committed a sanghadisesa, a patayantika, or any of the two offenses, and the bhikkhu also admits to sitting there, and lets him commit a sanghadisesa, a patayantika, or any of the two offenses, because he believes the bhikkhuni's words, whatever offense the bhikkhuni says to the bhikkhu, he lets him commit that offense. This is an uncertain dharma. Buddha

While residing in Shravasti, the Bhikshu Rivata and the wife of the householder, the evil physician, both knelt and preached the Dharma. The laywoman Lakshemas saw this and reported it, leading to the establishment of the rule. Possessions, places, thoughts, and faculties are also mixed together, like leftover food. Any virtuous laymen or laywomen, as they have spoken, should be made to act according to the Dharma, which is the same as above. Venerable ones, I have finished explaining these two uncertain Dharmas. To this, I ask you, venerable ones: Are you pure here? I ask this twice, three times. If you are pure here, venerable ones, why do you not speak? This is considered as consent. This is also the same as what is said later. In short: holding, separating, placing, washing, accepting, begging, upper garment, lower garment, each with its own value. This is also the same as what follows. Venerable ones, these thirty expiable offenses that I have spoken of arise from reciting the Pratimoksha Sutra twice a month. This is also the same as what is said later. If a Bhikshu's Dharma garment is finished and the seams are removed, within ten days, it is permissible to hold the remaining unblessed garments. Holding it beyond this period is an expiable offense. When the Buddha was residing in Shravasti, the Bhikshus had many garments. They wore one garment when making temple rags, and one garment when chopping wood. Like this, changing garments and being entangled in many trivial matters became an obstacle to virtuous practice, and after being criticized by others, the rule was established. The phrase "the garment is finished, the seams are removed" has four situations: the garment is finished and the seams are removed, the garment is not finished and the seams are not removed, the garment is finished but the seams are not removed, and the seams are removed but the garment is not finished. The latter three do not constitute an offense, so here it is only related to the first situation. The time for removing the seams is sewing on the sixteenth day of the middle autumn month, and removing them on the sixteenth day of the first spring month. At that time, the garments that have already been obtained can be held unblessed for ten days.
