If three conditions are met, it becomes a residual offense: initially receiving a message, the other party refusing, and returning the message, then it becomes a residual offense. There are three certainties: certainty of one owner, certainty of one object, and certainty of one time. Among these, certainty of one owner refers to combining the words of a man to a woman with the words of a woman to a man. Certainty of one object refers to combining with a wife or a mistress. Certainty of one time refers to even a moment being sufficient. Among these, there are seven types of wives: a wife given with water, bought with wealth, seized by force, obtained through love, residing through love, living together, and that of a moment. Among these, there are also ten types of mistresses: protected by the father, protected by the mother, protected by the husband, (here a section is missing), protected by siblings, protected by sisters-in-law, protected by relatives, protected by race, protected by lineage, and those without quarrels, totaling ten. There are also seven types of marital disputes: reconciling immediately after quarreling with the first three wives, reconciling after a period of quarreling, reconciling from cutting grass, each being a minor offense. Reconciling from throwing three stones, and reconciling from legal judgment, each being a major offense. Reconciling after declaring not a wife, and reconciling from beating drums, each being a residual offense and a major offense. If these quarrels occur seven times, and reconciliation occurs seven times, there will be three minor offenses, four major offenses, and two residual offenses, totaling nine. After receiving a message, reconciling with one powerless person on the other side results in one major offense and one minor offense. If sent back to a powerless person, it is a minor offense. Receiving a message from a powerful person, reconciling from a powerful person, and sending it to a powerless person results in two major offenses and one minor offense. If sent back to the powerful person, it becomes a residual offense. If selling someone like a son or sister and consuming the price, it is equivalent to selling someone with hair and causing them to engage in impure conduct, thus the father commits two defeating major offenses. If the price is not consumed, it is one major offense. After taking it oneself, a monk builds a house for ownerless property.

Then that monk built a house according to the proper dimensions, and the dimensions of that house were as follows: in the interior, the Sugata's height was twelve, and the width was seven. For the purpose of inspecting the foundation, that monk should lead the monks. Those monks who are led should also approve, not dispute, and be spacious. If a monk, in a place that is unsuitable, disputed, or not spacious, says, "I have taken possession of ownerless property, and am building a house for myself," or for the purpose of inspecting the foundation, does not lead the monks, or does not show the foundation to the monks who are led, or exceeds the dimensions, it is a saṃghāvaśeṣa. When the Buddha was in Śrāvastī. The monks had too many houses, some were too expensive, and some were too small, so they began to build other houses, which became an obstacle to good deeds, and were criticized by the Brahmins. Among them, "I have taken" means land, trees, building tools, hired laborers, etc., which I have taken from others. "For the ownerless me" means that the owner of this house has not been designated to others. The Sugata's height of twelve means eighteen cubits of ordinary people. A height of seven means eleven and a half cubits of ordinary people. Leading monks for the purpose of inspecting the foundation means that the foundation is suitable, not disputed, and spacious. Among them, a suitable foundation means that there are no living beings, that is, no worms, ants, wood-eating insects, or even ant nests. Among them, not disputing means not being close to temples, the king's palace, and Brahmin residences. Spacious means that there is no water or garbage, etc., within one fathom of the foundation of the house. After that, the management of writing is only a symbol of illusion. Among them, if six limbs are complete, it becomes a saṃghāvaśeṣa: only for oneself, soliciting utensils from others, the three of unsuitable foundation, as well as without permission, exceeding the dimensions, and finally completing it. Among them, without permission, unsuitable foundation, dispute and not spacious, exceeding the dimensions, these do not combine with others, and only possessing one of them results in a gross offense. Other monks should be well admonished.

Therefore, if entrusted to build a house, if that bhikkhu does not do it diligently, then the order of falling into offense is the same as that of the bhikkhu who owns the house. Under the entrustment to the bhikkhu to build, I myself also give the utensils, and if the construction violates the regulations, then the order of falling into offense, like before, will arise from both. The size of the house is determined by the rope, and if it is rounded and made into a square, it will become thicker than the width. The size of one house is not allowed to exceed this, but if it does not exceed the size, even if the number of rooms is increased, there is no fault. If a bhikkhu builds a house for the sake of two or three people who belong to him, because it is not just for one prohibition, it will become thick. If a house for servants is built, it will also become thick. Building a house that can accommodate four practices does not require requesting permission. A suitable foundation, without dispute and spacious, and not exceeding the size, is the same as before. For the floors of the house, a maximum of five floors are allowed. If a bhikkhu builds a large monastery for the sake of the owner and the sangha, in order to see the foundation, that bhikkhu should lead the bhikkhus. The bhikkhus who are led should also understand whether the foundation is unsuitable, disputed, and spacious. If a bhikkhu builds a large monastery on an unsuitable, disputed, and unspacious foundation for the sake of the sangha with an owner, or does not lead the bhikkhus to see the foundation, or does not show the foundation to the bhikkhus, then it is a sanghavasesa offense. When the Buddha was staying in Shravasti, in a monastery built by others, the six groups of bhikkhus were staying, and said to Ananda: Ananda, look, this monastery is crooked and not good. Ananda said: You can't even pile up three stones, what are you criticizing? The six groups of bhikkhus became arrogant and requested land from the king to build a monastery. The king allowed them to build wherever they pleased except around the palace. They begged for wealth and utensils from the Brahmins. There was a place where five hundred Brahmin children were learning Brahmin mantras, and there was a huge shady tree. When the six groups of bhikkhus were begging for alms there, the Brahmin children, resentful of being criticized, the six groups of bhikkhus cut down the shady tree in one night.
