In the past, many monks lived in monasteries and practiced the Dharma of tranquility for a long time, so that afflictions such as greed were pacified and manifested in their conduct. They said to each other, 'Our birth is exhausted, the Brahmachariya has been established, and the enemy of afflictions has been destroyed.' After saying this, they returned to the city, and upon seeing women and gardens, etc., they developed a mind of greed. If doubts arise, they would violate the precepts established by the Buddhas and others. Having five limbs will result in defeat (Parajika offense): What are the five? Namely: what is the Guru's Dharma, concealing realization, personally declaring it, claiming to have attained it, and understanding the meaning of others. Possessing these five limbs, from claiming to have attained dhyana, supernormal powers, and the four fruits of a recluse, etc., up to saying that one has seen gods and nagas, etc., will result in defeat. Among them, the circumstances that constitute a gross offense are: although not spoken explicitly, implying that one possesses human qualities like a Guru; sending a letter saying how one possesses merits; entrusting others to praise one's merits; and lying about seeing flesh-eating ghosts in the charnel ground, all of these constitute a gross offense. If one says that one has attained the rank of a noble being, even if one has not actually attained it, it constitutes a gross offense. If one says that so-and-so has attained the superior qualities of a noble being, it will constitute a deliberate offense of downfall. Regarding the meaning of the words, the meanings of 'non-manifestation' and 'non-omniscience' are: 'non-manifestation' refers to not understanding the meaning of the general characteristics from the form aggregate to the consciousness aggregate. Or it refers to the worldly path, that is, not understanding the path of the four dhyanas and the eight attainments. 'Non-omniscience' refers to the transcendental path, that is, not understanding the meaning of the noble path and the four truths. Or, 'non-manifestation' refers to not understanding the noble path. 'Non-omniscience' refers to not understanding the path of liberation. Or, 'non-manifestation' refers to not understanding through common means, that is, understanding the meaning of the teaching that 'conditioned phenomena are impermanent.' 'Non-omniscience' refers to not understanding through common means, that is, saying with ten words that 'conditioned phenomena are impermanent,' therefore

To create is to not understand the meaning of impermanence. To become superior from the Dharma of humans refers to the Nirvana of the Dharma of humans. Furthermore, it is not the realm of the lowest people; to become superior from humans is the Dharma of the conduct of the noble ones. The term "end" refers to reaching the end of Samsara, which is Nirvana. A noble one is one who has become superior from humans. Obtaining distinction refers to Dhyana, Abhijna, Immeasurables, and the four fruits of a Shramana, etc. Knowing is to know the four truths as they are, or it can also refer to the ten wisdoms of the path. Seeing is seeing gods and nagas, etc. Or it is seeing the four truths. To engage in touching refers to the meaning of practicing the four Dhyanas. "Without" refers to the absence of things of the higher realms. Or it is the meaning of not appearing manifestly. "Without nature" refers to the meaning of selflessness. Within the phrase "this is known" are included the various names of knowing. Within the phrase "this is seen" are included the various names of seeing. To claim is the meaning of promising. To desire purity after an offense has occurred means that after having lied, remorse arises, whether one confesses oneself or confesses after being asked by others, it is acceptable. Hollow means without meaning to speak, like an empty vessel. Depleted means without essence, like the trunk of a water tree. "Except for manifest pride" means that when relying on an antidote, afflictions will not transform, and at that time, due to the power of pride, one speaks of that meaning. Falling is threefold: the misconduct of action, the gross offense of action, and the root defeat. Venerable ones, I have finished explaining the four Parajikas. If a Bhikshu commits any of those offenses, how it is in the beginning, so it is later, he is defeated, he cannot live and act together with the Bhikshus, he is not allowed to reside. The other is similar to what is said behind. "How it is in the beginning, so it is later" means that just as not practicing celibacy in the beginning is a defeat, so in the end, committing falsehood also becomes a defeat. Not being allowed to reside means that it is not allowed to reside within the boundary of the Sangha. Not being allowed to act refers to the Dharma of
