Widows and faithful patrons, seeing this, would scold, saying: These noble ones treat food like children, orphans, gamblers, and sons of prostitutes. This is not proper; do not eat like this! They would say: Wise ones, there is a need for this. The noble ones would ask: What is the need? First, you yourselves are ignorant and need to be taught. Hearing them scolding extensively, the monks at that time reported to the Blessed One, and the Blessed One thought: The householders are speaking the truth. Therefore, as before, they should be taught not to separate the grains but to eat them together. Thus, the precept was established. The place was Śrāvastī. The persons were the Group of Six. The affliction was impropriety. The fault was picking out each grain from the rice and eating it. Among these, "not separating the grains" means that grains refer to rice and other grains, that is, any food that contains such grains. Do not pick them out one by one to eat, but eat them properly. Therefore, they should be taught to eat food properly. Here, the classification of the root downfall is: In the actual situation, if one does not do so, it becomes the basis for an offense of wrongdoing that must be confessed. The agent of this is separating the grains and the food itself. This has only one branch, which is the actual accomplishment. For the preparation and the accomplishment of the preparation of the preparation, etc., if there is anything inappropriate, it will be blamed as before. The fifty-ninth precept. To eat food without disparaging it is what should be learned. The basis of the story is: The Buddha, the Blessed One, was dwelling in Śrāvastī, in the Jeta Grove, in Anāthapiṇḍika's Garden. The Group of Six, while eating food in another's house, said: These pleasant foods, delicious foods, and vegetables are too bland! Too sour! At that time, the monks reported to the Blessed One, and the Blessed One, as before, established the precept: They should be taught to eat food without disparaging it. The place was Śrāvastī. The persons were the Group of Six. The affliction was not protecting the minds of others. The fault was disparaging the food. Among these, "without disparaging" means not to slander or denigrate the food.

One should thus train well in eating food. Here, the classification of the fundamental transgression is that if one does not train in that way in the fundamental situation, it becomes the basis of a sin that should be confessed. The agent here is mockery and the food itself. The limb here is one, namely the accomplishment of the fundamental itself. For the application and the accomplishment of the application of the application itself, etc., one should blame as appropriate, just as before. The sixty precepts are complete. The basis for learning to eat food without moving the cheeks is: The Buddha Bhagavan was dwelling in Anathapindika's grove in Jeta's park in Shravasti. When the group of six were eating food in other people's homes, they were moving food from cheek to cheek while eating. Brahmins and faithful householders saw this and rebuked them, saying: These noble ones eat like children and mutes, this is not proper, do not eat like this. They said: Wise ones, there is a need for this. Noble ones, what is the need? First, you yourselves are ignorant and have not been trained. Having heard them scolding extensively, at that time the monks reported to the Bhagavan. The Bhagavan thought: What the householders say is true. So, as before, he made the rule that one should train in eating food without moving the cheeks. The place was Shravasti, the people were the group of six, the affliction was impropriety, and the fault was moving food from cheek to cheek while eating. Among these, the term "without moving the cheeks" means that the two cheeks should be filled as they are, and one should not move them from side to side, this is the general statement. One should thus train well in eating food. Here, the classification of the fundamental transgression is that if one does not train in that way in the fundamental situation, it becomes the basis of a sin that should be confessed. The agent here is moving the cheeks and the food itself. The limb here is one, namely the accomplishment of the fundamental itself. For the application and the accomplishment of the application of the application itself, etc., one should blame as appropriate, just as before. The sixty-first precept is complete.
