The Blessed One was dwelling in Rajagriha, at the place of the Bright Garden, Kalandaka. At that time, the monk Black Elephant, son of Elephant Strength, was with many monks, arguing, saying, "This is Dharma, this is Vinaya, this is the Teacher's teaching." In order to pacify the dispute, they gathered in the house of Pongsa and reached an agreement, but Black Elephant alone prevented the Sangha, caused discord in the Sangha, seized the dispute and argued, did not end the conversation, did not respect, did not follow, and thought, "I will refute." Why do the few monks, those many monks who gathered in the house of Pongsa and reached an agreement in order to pacify the dispute, alone prevent the Sangha, alone cause discord in the Sangha, seize the dispute and argue, do not end the conversation, do not respect, do not follow, and think, "I will refute," and revile, slander, and mock. At that time, the monks reported this to the Blessed One. Then, because of this event, this origin, this circumstance, the Blessed One convened the Sangha of monks and rebuked the monk Black Elephant, saying, "This is not the conduct of a Shramana, not compliant, not appropriate, not in accordance with the rules, this is not what a renunciate should do." He rebuked him in many ways. The Blessed One fully saw the ten benefits of establishing precepts, therefore my Shravaka disciples should recite the basis of the Vinaya in this way: if one does not respect, one commits a Patayantika offense. The Blessed One established the precept. The place was Rajagriha. The person was the monk Black Elephant. The affliction was the pervasive application of pride. The fault was disrespect towards the Sangha and individuals. Among them, "if one does not respect" means not respecting two things: the Sangha and the individual. Among them, the Sangha refers to the Sangha of the Tathagata's Shravakas and the name of the Sangha. The individual refers to the Upadhyaya.

And the respective Acharyas. The term "offense" is as previously stated. So, how does one fall into offense? Here, one should understand the definition of this through the main act, the preparatory act, the preparatory act of the preparatory act, the classification of offenses, non-offenses, what should be learned, and remedies. Among these, the classification of the main act of offense is when a Bhikshu violates the words of the Buddha's teachings and the Sangha's terminology, and the Bhikshu Sangha's sitting, walking, accepting dwellings, accepting monasteries, speaking, etc., without respect for the meaning of the Dharma, without clarifying with a 'shad' (a punctuation mark in Tibetan grammar, similar to a comma), but instead acting contrary to it, and when others are in the process of establishing Dharma-related speech, suddenly interrupting, in a disrespectful manner, it becomes the main act of offense. There is no fault in violating the Buddha's teachings. The Sangha's terminology is the mouth of the Sangha, therefore, the Sangha's terminology refers to the words of those appointed to the twelve tasks, such as elders and Vinaya masters, and there is no fault in violating these words. There is no fault in violating the words of the Bhikshu Sangha. There is no fault in disrespectfully violating the teachings of the Sangha's sitting, walking, accepting dwellings, accepting monasteries, speaking, etc., without clarifying with a 'shad'. There is no fault in any violation of the Sangha's Dharma-related teachings. There is no fault in suddenly interrupting when others are in the process of establishing Dharma-related speech. The agents here are the Buddha's teachings, the Sangha's terminology, the Bhikshu Sangha's Dharma-related teachings, and the establishment of others' Dharma-related speech. Here, the main act of offense occurs with five limbs: the Buddha's teachings, or the Sangha's terminology, or the Bhikshu Sangha's teachings, or any of others' Dharma-related speech.

It is the absence, the possession of Dharma, not punishing with disrespect but with Dharma with a stick, the thought of wrong discrimination, and opposition. If the limbs are incomplete, then one should be blamed as appropriate. The transgression of the act is an evil deed. For as long as one engages in the act of transgression with disrespect, until one reaches the reality, it is an evil deed. On the reality, for each different act that is performed, each one is an evil deed. If one violates the meaning of the instructions of the Khenpo and Acharya, it is an evil deed. If a Bhikshu violates the act of transgression of the Sangha, which is not in accordance with the Dharma, it is an evil deed. If one violates the decree of the King, the Arhat, and the Elder of the Sangha, it is an evil deed. The transgression of the act of transgression is a minor evil deed. For as many acts as there are, there are as many acts of transgression. The act of transgression of the evil deed is also an evil deed, which is a minor evil deed. There is no transgression for those who are demons, heretics, and ordinary people, if they do not possess the Dharma. If one gives with punishment by a stick to those who possess the Dharma, there is no transgression. There is no transgression for beginners, madmen, those with disturbed minds, and those who are afflicted by suffering. What should be learned is that a Bhikshu should not practice all the aspects of becoming a transgression due to disrespect in all places and at all times. One should learn in this way. One should not disturb the teachings of the fully enlightened Buddha, the words of the Bhikshu Arhat who has exhausted the defilements, the words of the King Kshatriya who has been crowned from the head, the words of the Elder of the Sangha, and the words of the disciplinarian. The amendment is as before. The transgression of disrespect has been spoken, this is the seventy-eighth. The origin of the transgression of drinking alcohol and becoming intoxicated: The Buddha Bhagavan was residing in Jeta Grove, Anathapindika's Garden in Shravasti. In the land of the evil-abandoned son, there was a Rakshasa who killed children, a householder named Juexian, who was wealthy, had much wealth, great enjoyment, wide possession, and was learned.
