Thinking that even for someone who has exhausted desires, if it's the first time seeing someone, it would be like treating them as a bride, the next day, the nun of Utpala color went to beg for alms, and she. First offered the best of the alms food to the Sangha, and then took the second portion for herself. Nanda came again and said, 'Venerable, is there any food left?' She replied, 'If the Venerable needs it, I can offer it.' Just like the leftovers from the heavenly realm. 'If the Venerable needs it, please take the bowl.' She handed over the bowl, and the nun poured the alms food into his bowl. Utpala color had not eaten food for two days, and due to weakness, she fainted and fell to the ground. Those without faith found an opportunity and began to slander: 'Those who are knowledgeable say that Utpala color has exhausted desires, but seeing this young and beautiful Shakya man, she fainted and fell to the ground due to desire, what is this?' The monks reported this matter to the Blessed One. Then, the Blessed One gathered the Sangha of monks, explained the cause and effect of this matter, and rebuked Nanda: 'This is not in accordance with the practice of a Shramana, does not accord with the Dharma, is not permissible, does not accord with the precepts, and is not something that a renunciate should do.' The Blessed One elaborated on the ten benefits of establishing precepts and said, 'My Shravaka disciples should recite the basis of discipline in this way: If any monk receives food from a non-relative nun on the road, or takes food with his own hand and eats it, that monk should go outside the monastery and confess to the other monks: Venerable ones, I have committed an inappropriate act that deserves reproach, I should confess this offense.' Thus, the precept of confession was established. The location was Rajagriha, the person was Nanda, the affliction was the temptation of a bride, and the offense was receiving food from a non-relative nun on the road, or taking food with one's own hand and eating it. Among them, 'any monk' refers to Nanda of the Shakya clan or others like him.
