Mixing with me, musk, sheep, and deer skins, etc., such things are not allowed. An unallowed bowl is one made of unboiled, white, precious stones, etc. The opposite of those, such as Dharma robes and bowls, are allowed. "Having a measure" means that the Dharma robe has its own measure, and the remaining cloth also has a span's measure. The bowl also has three measures that can be blessed. The word "etc." includes exceeding the measure, that is, the Dharma robe exceeds its own measure, the remaining cloth also exceeds a span's measure, and the bowl also exceeds the three measures that can be blessed. Thus, for the belongings of renunciates, being allowed and having a measure, or exceeding the measure, is the root transgression. The opposite of that is a minor offense. Here, in order to show that these two aspects also apply to the belongings possessed by novices, etc., it is said "for the belongings of renunciates," and not "for those who have taken full ordination." "One's own benefit is primary" means that for any transgression, the agent whose own benefit is primary, that is, for any transgression where one's own benefit is primary, then one's own benefit is the completer of the transgression, and not another's benefit is the completer of the transgression, because doing it for another's benefit and not one's own is the agent to be reproached in the following words. For example, speaking about sexual intercourse for the benefit of others, and flattery and praise, etc., are grave offenses. Having a non-relative Bhikshuni wash clothes, etc., for the benefit of others is a minor offense. Here, doing or causing to be done for the benefit of the Sangha is also solely for the benefit of others. Doing or causing to be done for the benefit of oneself and others is also solely for the benefit of others, because there are others who pursue benefit besides oneself. "For expression, understanding the meaning" means that through verbal expression, for speaking and begging, etc., understanding the meaning of others is the root.

It is a branch of the fence, because the result of expression is understanding the meaning. Not understanding the meaning is inferior. Therefore, saying that someone in meditation is related to sexual activity, and reverence and praise, etc., are gross offenses. Similarly, groundlessly accusing those who are asleep, in meditation, foolish, and deaf, and slightly slandering them are also gross offenses. Engaging in marked behavior with the foolish and deaf, and buying and selling are misdeeds, because weaving and weaving require investment, and making them understand these two. Scolding people from the center and border areas in other languages, even if they do not understand the meaning, is also a misdeed. Slandering those two, scolding the foolish and deaf, teaching the Dharma to sleeping women, and teaching the Dharma together with shameless people, border people, people from other continents, sleeping people, mad people, negligent people, people in meditation, and men of the foolish and deaf categories are misdeeds. Agreeing with the foolish and deaf, and repeating superfluous words are also misdeeds. Speaking ill of shameless people, border people, and central people in other languages, speaking of the superior human Dharma to the deaf and foolish, slandering border people and central people in other languages saying that friendship has been made, and despising the teachings to the deaf and foolish, mocking, making sarcasm, and making the teachings enter the ears are also misdeeds. Teaching them without being asked, and slandering them for teaching for a small amount of food, eating the food they make, making them light a fire, making them regret, frightening them, groundlessly accusing them, and abandoning approaching the teachings in other languages are also misdeeds. What the speaker himself possesses, that is, other than killing and stealing for oneself, means that the speaker himself understands the meaning is a branch of expression, that is, being able to speak and understand the meaning is a branch of expression, not being able to speak but understanding the meaning is the object of killing and stealing for oneself.
