Request. The Blessed One said: Ananda, do monks give clothes to nuns who are not relatives? The venerable one requested. The Blessed One said: Ananda, regarding nuns who are not relatives, do not think, "Are her three robes complete?" or think, "Are they incomplete?" but accept what is obtained in this way. For relatives, even if given, do not accept. Then, the Blessed One, because of this event, this origin, this occasion, gathered the Sangha of monks, and rebuked that monk, saying: Your behavior is not like a Shramana, not compliant, not lawful, not in accordance with the rules, this is not what a renunciant should do! He condemned him in various ways. The Blessed One fully saw the ten benefits of establishing precepts, therefore, my Shravaka disciples should recite and study the basis of the precepts in this way: If any monk gives clothes to a nun who is not a relative, he commits a Patayantika offense. The Blessed One established this precept. The place was Shravasti. The person was a monk who renounced from a merchant relying on Shravasti. The affliction was the craving for the nun's previous life. The offense was giving clothes to a nun who was not a relative. Among them, "any monk" refers to one who belongs to this Dharma. "Nun" also refers to one who belongs to this Dharma. "Non-relative" means that from the maternal grandmother, maternal grandfather, great-grandchild, up to the seventh generation are relatives, beyond this range they are not relatives. "Clothes" refers to any of the seven types of clothes, namely fine wool, Shana, Zama, Dugula, cotton wool, Kotamba, Niyo, etc. "Giving" means without requiring repayment. "Commits a Patayantika offense" is as mentioned before. So, how is a Patayantika offense constituted? Here, one should also understand the characteristics of this precept through the main action, the preparatory action, the establishment of the Patayantika offense by the preparatory action of the preparatory action, the absence of offense, what should be learned, and the remedial measures. Among them, here the establishment of the Patayantika offense of the main action is: apart from offering clothes to the Sangha of nuns, if a nun who is not a relative experiences loss, good speech, closeness

For those who are complete and do not wish to exchange, if there is recognition there, and suitable clothing is given that meets the standard of covering the three wheels, it becomes the basis for the downfall of giving clothing. Except for a Bhikshu offering clothing to the Bhikshuni Sangha, there is no blame. There is blame for a Bhikshuni who is not a relative. There is no blame for a Bhikshuni who is not a relative if something is lost, well-spoken, completed ordination, or not wishing to exchange. There is no blame for a Bhikshuni who is not a relative if there is recognition there and doubt in mind. There is no blame for suitable clothing that meets the standard of covering the three wheels, and even more than that. There is no blame for giving without needing atonement. The main actor in this is the one who primarily recognizes the Bhikshuni who is not a relative. This has six branches that become the basis for the fundamental downfall: not a Bhikshu offering clothing to the Bhikshuni Sangha, and a Bhikshuni who is not a relative, and that she has something lost or well-spoken or completed ordination or not wishing to exchange, and recognition there, and suitable clothing up to the standard of covering the three wheels, and giving. If these branches are incomplete, there is blame accordingly. The downfall of the preparation is an evil deed, that is, from the time one begins the preparation for the downfall of giving clothing until one does not reach the basis, it is an evil deed. For each different preparation made for the basis, there is one evil deed. There is an evil deed for a Bhikshuni who is not a relative who is degenerate and not attached. There is an evil deed for a non-relative who is not fully ordained and whose name does not match. There is an evil deed for recognizing a relative Bhikshuni as a non-relative and having doubt in mind. There is an evil deed for unsuitable clothing and not meeting the standard of covering the three wheels. The downfall of the preparation of the preparation is a minor evil deed, that is, as many preparations as there are, there are that many preparations of the preparation, and the preparation of the preparation of the evil deed is also an evil deed, that is, a minor evil deed. There is no downfall for offering clothing to the Bhikshuni Sangha. There is no downfall for a relative Bhikshuni. For a Bhikshuni who is not a relative
