After inviting him, the Venerable Pilindavatsa said: Please inform the Blessed One. He then went before the Blessed One and reported: Venerable, my army has borrowed me for four months, may I accept their offerings? The Blessed One instructed: Therefore, except for individual invitations, a bhikkhu may accept individual invitations. Other bhikkhus who arrived later thought: We have not been invited by the king, let us go begging. When they went begging, they were seen by King Bimbisāra of Magadha, who said: The saints are repeatedly invited. At that time, the bhikkhus reported to the Blessed One, and the Blessed One instructed: Therefore, except for repeated invitations, a bhikkhu may accept repeated invitations. The bhikkhus thought: King Bimbisāra is busy and has many things to do, but we have few things to do, let us go begging. When they went begging, they were seen by King Bimbisāra of Magadha, who said: The saints are invited on time. At that time, the bhikkhus reported to the Blessed One, and the Blessed One instructed: Therefore, except for invitations on time, a bhikkhu may accept invitations on time. King Bimbisāra invited the Blessed One to attend the death anniversary. The next day, many bhikkhus went begging and were seen by King Bimbisāra of Magadha, who said: The saints are always invited. At that time, the bhikkhus reported to the Blessed One, and the Blessed One instructed: Therefore, except for always being invited, a bhikkhu may accept always being invited. After that, the Blessed One praised the desire to learn, respect for learning, and reducing the use of learning materials, and said to the bhikkhus something that was consistent with this, similar to this, and with this.

After giving instructions in accordance with the Dharma, he addressed the monks, saying: "Therefore, monks, the former is prescribed, while this is permitted. The great disciples should recite the basis of training in the Vinaya as follows: A monk may accept an invitation for four months. If he accepts more than that, he commits a transgression. Except for separate invitations, repeated invitations, timely invitations, and permanent invitations. Therefore, he permitted, saying, 'That is the time.' The place was Rajagriha. The person was the venerable Pilindavatsa's son, etc., few monks. There were no afflictions or faults. Among them, 'monk' refers to the one who possesses this Dharma. 'Four months' refers to up to four months. 'Invitation' refers to requesting. 'Accept' refers to promising. 'If he accepts more than that' refers to exceeding that limit. 'He commits a transgression' refers to as before. 'Separate invitations' refers to like this, inviting monks separately and individually. 'Repeated invitations' refers to like this, inviting monks repeatedly. 'Timely invitations' refers to like this, urging monks to invite. 'Permanent invitations' refers to like this, inviting monks permanently. 'Except' refers to excluding. 'Therefore, that is the time' refers to establishing the basis of training, that is the Dharma that accords with the permission. So, how does a transgression occur? Here, through the actual basis, the preparation, and the preparation of the preparation, the transgression is determined, as well as the absence of transgression, what should be learned, and the remedies, one should understand the characteristics here. Among them, here the determination of the transgression of the actual basis is that a non-monk donor is not a relative, unless it is a permanent invitation, without determining the time,

After complete fulfillment, if one begs for and eats any good or bad food that has been prepared beforehand, it becomes the basis for a downfall of staying beyond the invitation period. There is no fault for a non-bhikshu. There is no fault for a non-donor relative. There is no fault except for those who are constantly invited. There is no fault for any time after the four months of invitation have been completely fulfilled. There is no fault for the quality or quantity of food. There is no fault for begging and eating. The agent of this is a non-bhikshu, a non-donor relative, excessive begging, and being out of time. In this case, the five limbs become the basis of the downfall: being a non-bhikshu, being a non-donor relative, being out of time, begging from someone who has been invited before, and eating. If these limbs are not complete, then there is a fault as appropriate. The downfall of action is an evil deed: as long as one engages in the action of staying beyond the invitation period, until one does not reach the basis, it is an evil deed. For each different action engaged in for the basis, there is one evil deed. Therefore, approaching and begging are evil deeds. If one is invited to provide food, begging for and eating bad food is an evil deed. In any situation, or before the four months of invitation, at that time, after, or from householders, etc., even at the time of re-ordination, if one begs excessively, it is an evil deed. The downfall of the action of action is a minor evil deed: as many actions as there are, so many actions of action there are, and the action of the evil deed of action is also an evil deed, that is, a minor evil deed. There is no downfall for a sick bhikshu. There is no downfall for a donor relative. There is no downfall for a time that has been blessed. There is no downfall for a beginner, a madman, a disturbed mind, or one who is afflicted by feelings. What should be learned is that a bhikshu should not engage in any actions that would lead to a downfall of staying beyond the invitation period in all places and at all times.
