I intentionally thought within the Sangha: to present what is not Dharma as Dharma, to present Dharma as not Dharma, to present what is not Vinaya as Vinaya, and to present Vinaya as not Vinaya. What constitutes a minor offense? For example, when a Bhikshu is reciting the Pratimoksha Sutra every half month, if the reciter asks, "Are you pure?" and he is not pure but remains silent without answering. What constitutes a Patayantika offense? For example, any false speech other than those four types of false speech is a Patayantika offense. The term "Patayantika" means that which causes beings to be burned, tormented, and fallen into hell, animal realm, hungry ghost realm, evil destinies, bad paths, and wrong views. Furthermore, if those Patayantika offenses are not confessed and not individually confessed, they will obstruct virtuous Dharmas. Therefore, it is called Patayantika. So, how does a Patayantika offense arise? Here, one must understand its characteristics by distinguishing the Patayantika offense through the actual basis, the preparation, and the preparation of the preparation, as well as the absence of offense, what should be learned, and the remedies. Among these, distinguishing the Patayantika offense of the actual basis refers to false speech other than that which belongs to Parajika, Sanghavasesa, Sthulatyaya, and minor offenses. When one transforms the perception of an object known in meaning into another perception and speaks falsely, thinking, "I am speaking falsely," and after speaking falsely, thinking, "I have spoken falsely," this becomes the actual basis of the Patayantika offense associated with preparation. Speaking falsely is distinguished by perception, not by the object itself, so there is no blame for transforming the perception of an object known in meaning into another perception. When speaking falsely, thinking, "I am speaking falsely," this is the actual basis associated with preparation, so there is no blame for that. After speaking falsely, thinking, "I have spoken falsely," this is the actual basis with a conclusion, so there is no blame for that either. There is no blame for having a single basis with multiple situations. Doubt is similar to perception, so there is no blame for that.
