It belongs to the Dharma of... So, how does a downfall occur? Here, too, the definition of this should be understood through the actual basis, the preparation, the determination of the downfall by the preparation of the preparation, the absence of downfall, what should be learned, and the remedies. Here, the determination of the actual basis of the downfall is that if a monk touches or allows to be touched a precious object that does not belong to him, or something considered precious that belongs to himself or another, it becomes the actual basis of a downfall belonging to the basis of enjoyment. What is called a precious object is a jewel, a pearl, beryl, red coral, coral, gold, silver, the essence of stone, coral, red objects, right-spiraling conch shells, and so on. What is meant by 'not belonging to oneself' is belonging to another. Because what belongs to oneself has already been pointed out as an abandonment downfall. What is called 'considered precious' refers to all weapons used on the battlefield and all instruments used for entertainment. Weapons used on the battlefield include bows, swords, curved swords, single-edged swords, spears, javelins, iron hooks, arrows, iron arrows, half-iron arrows, and so on. Instruments used for entertainment include lutes, cymbals, valari, mahati, sughotaka, conch shells, large drums, row drums, pottery drums, and so on. What is meant by 'belonging to oneself or another' is because both are the actors of this offense. So, under what circumstances do precious objects and things considered precious become the actual basis of this offense? They are those that become permissible because of need. Among them, precious objects that have become permissible because of need are those that have been polished and pierced, and there is no fault in them. Necklaces, decorated bracelets, armlets, necklaces, semotos, etc., if they remain as they are, are permissible because of need, and there is no fault in them. Lutes, cymbals, valari, mahati, sughoshakas, etc., if they have strings, are permissible because of need, and there is no fault in them.
