Its distinctions are fourfold: completely covered and completely surrounded; completely covered and mostly surrounded; mostly covered and completely surrounded; and mostly covered and mostly surrounded. Among these, a dwelling that is completely covered and completely surrounded is a house, a courtyard of a monastery, and multi-storied buildings, where the top is completely covered and all sides are completely surrounded. Completely covered and mostly surrounded are ten-doored and twelve-doored structures, where the top is completely covered and the sides are mostly surrounded, with "mostly" referring to leaving one-third uncovered. Mostly covered and completely surrounded are four-sided verandas, where the top is mostly covered and all sides are completely surrounded, with a four-sided veranda being one where the top is covered in connection with all four sides, but the center is not covered. Mostly covered and mostly surrounded are three-sided verandas and courtyards of monasteries, where the top is mostly covered and the sides are mostly surrounded, with a three-sided veranda being one where the top is covered in connection with three sides, but the top of one side and the center are not covered. These four types of dwellings, when they become nearby dwellings connected to a door, are included within their scope. Offerings between other places, connected to that door, are also included within its scope. If one moves within a single interior and there is no other dwelling, all coverings are the same. Even if there are different nearby surroundings for a door that belongs to oneself but is blocked off, it is still considered the same dwelling here. For other differences in sequence, if one falls on the stairs, it is still the same dwelling, and there is no fault for those same dwellings. There is no fault for falling asleep while sleeping together in the same posture. There is no fault for sleeping after the first light of dawn appears in a single night. Even if it is just the vomit of another, it is said to be gathering together with it, and there is no fault for that either. The author here is primarily the one who makes an effort, for a monk who has spoken these words and has not made amends by abandoning them. With five branches, this becomes a fundamental downfall, namely, the Sangha from the dwelling...

Having done the act of expulsion, and therefore not having healed, being aware of this, and except for matters pertaining to illness, wrong views, and separation, having done anything from the declaration of expulsion to being expelled by others. Among these, if the limbs are incomplete, then punishment should be given accordingly. The downfall of preparation is a misdeed; as long as one engages in the downfall-related activity of following the expelled, until one does not reach the actual object, it is a misdeed. For each different preparation engaged in for the actual object, there is a corresponding misdeed. Falling asleep not in a sleeping posture but in another posture is a misdeed at both the end and the beginning. Daytime is not a different downfall from nighttime activities, so sleeping in the same place as the expelled person during the day is also a misdeed at both the end and the beginning. The shade of trees, between walls, and beside fences are only half of a place, so sleeping there is a misdeed. The vicinity of a place is also not the place itself, so sleeping there is also a misdeed. Before dawn is also a misdeed. If someone says that the person expelled in this way has not been healed, but thinks that he has been healed, or is doubtful, it is a misdeed. The downfall of the preparation of preparation is a minor misdeed; as many preparations as there are, there are that many preparations of preparation. The preparation of the misdeed of preparation is also a misdeed, a minor misdeed. There is no downfall for a monk who has been declared expelled in this way and has not been healed, and who is under the control of illness, wrong views, or matters pertaining to separation. From a dangerous dwelling with surroundings to a place outside of just a house, if it becomes different and one dwells there, since it does not belong to that area, there is no fault in sleeping there. There is no downfall for beginners, the insane, the mentally disturbed, and those afflicted by feelings. What should be learned is that a monk should learn not to rely on all actions that lead to the downfall of the expelled in all places and at all times. Do not be attached to the form of wrong views. Do not desire evil. Healing is the same as before. The downfall related to the expelled is
