As for the nature of (butter), it belongs to the seven-day medicine, and it does not occur universally, but only in similar things. For example, the nature of (butter) belongs to butter, and it only occurs in the butter that is obtained later, and it will not change into rapeseed oil, etc. Similarly, the nature of (butter) belongs to rapeseed oil, and it only occurs in the rapeseed oil that is obtained later, and it will not occur in butter, etc. Here, the sutra distinguishes and says that if a monk obtains butter on a certain day, and if he obtains another kind of butter on the second day, then this monk should eat the earliest obtained butter, and discard the later obtained butter, or make it usable, or give it to others. If he does not discard it, nor give it to others, then when the dawn of the eighth day rises, he will commit a Nissaggiya Pacittiya offense. If a monk commits the Nissaggiya Pacittiya offense of accumulation, as long as he has not confessed from the things that should be discarded, and has not confessed separately, if he puts the bowl or Dharma robe or mat or bowl or belt or any of the monk's living utensils nearby, then it will also be discarded due to the power of the previous one, but he will not fall into offense because of this. The difference between this Nissaggiya Pacittiya offense of accumulation and the Pacittiya offense of accumulation that will be mentioned below is: this (referring to the Nissaggiya Pacittiya offense of accumulation) is because of holding (butter) that has been blessed with seven-day medicine for the purpose of eating, and when the dawn of the eighth day rises, it becomes accumulation, so it is established as a Nissaggiya Pacittiya offense. And the one below (referring to the Pacittiya offense of accumulation) is because of accumulating the five kinds of timely food and the five kinds of edible things, and only after eating them is it established as a Pacittiya offense. There is no fault in holding (butter) that has been blessed with seven-day medicine for the purpose of eating, and when the dawn of the eighth day rises. The seven-day medicine refers to the person in charge of refining butter, rapeseed oil, honey, and brown sugar. The so-called refining butter is melted butter, and nectar also belongs to it. The so-called rapeseed oil is rapeseed oil itself. The five kinds of oils, namely fish oil, rabbit oil, crocodile cub oil, bear oil, and pig oil, which are cooked in season, squeezed in season, and blessed in season, also belong to this.

belong to. Honey is the honey of bees. Jaggery and jaggery foam refer to jaggery itself. Sugar and rock candy, etc., also belong to this category. The so-called seven-day medicine is that a sick Bhikshu can receive, bless, and take it within seven days. A person who is not sick cannot bless it, nor can they eat what others have blessed. If there is any remaining, it can be given to those who beg for the sick, or placed in the Sangha's pharmacy. The ritual and mantra for blessing these medicines on the seventh day are: these medicines are boiled and filtered in the morning at the place of a doctor, a monastic doctor, an attendant who has not received Bhikshu ordination, or any knowledgeable person, and are not mixed with hand-held items that are not allowed to be eaten, internally boiled items, internally oiled items, Bhikshu-boiled items, etc. The sick Bhikshu should also wash his hands in the morning to receive it, and then a Bhikshu who has received Bhikshu ordination, abides in his nature, has the same view, and lives within the boundary, sits in front of him, one person places the bowl or medicine container in his left hand, and the right hand recites from the mouth, and the patient should say: Venerable ones, please listen, I, Bhikshu, named so-and-so, bless this seven-day medicine for me and those who practice the same as Brahma. Repeat three times. The listener should follow and say, "It is expedient." The patient should say, "Good." After that, within seven days, without breaking the blessing, take it yourself. The sun of the seventh day of blessing has passed, and the Bhikshu should be told every day, from today the first day has passed, today is the second day, and so on. Eat it before the dawn of the eighth day, and if there is no remainder, it ends there. If there is any remainder, give it to those who beg for the sick, or place it in the Sangha's pharmacy, or put it with a thorough determination and a non-attached mind.
