This room and the alms bowl obtained for five years are common, but the practice is different. Like this, saying nothing, just accept it as it is, that's what was said. The subsequent modification is the same as before. The abandonment transformed from dedication, the twenty-ninth has been explained. The basis for the abandonment of accumulation is: The Buddha, the Bhagavan, was residing in the Bamboo Grove, the abode of the Kalandaka bird, in Rajagriha. At that time, the monks who lived with the Venerable Pilindavatsa took some medicine from there, received giving from there, mixed it with food powder, mixed it with each other, and personally tasted it themselves. Those things that could not be distinguished were sometimes eaten, and sometimes eaten at the wrong time, and they could not distinguish those foods either. The monks with few desires rebuked, scolded, and spoke ill of them. At that time, the monks reported to the Bhagavan. After that, the Bhagavan, because of this matter, this origin, and this occasion, convened the monastic community of monks, and said to the Venerable Pilindavatsa who lived together, and to the close monks: He rebuked those who are difficult to nourish, difficult to satisfy, have great desires, and are not content. He praised those who are easy to nourish, have few desires, are content, have the qualities and virtues of practice, and have wisdom. Having truly observed the ten benefits of establishing the training, my Shravakas, for the sake of discipline, should recite the basis of the training in this way: The Bhagavan, for the benefit of the sick monks, separately taught the medicines that should be relied upon, saying: Ghee, sesame oil, honey, and molasses of brown sugar, among those, if a sick monk wants, he himself blesses it for seven days, and completely enjoys it through accumulation, completely enjoys it. If he enjoys it beyond that, he commits abandonment. Thus, the training was established. The place is Rajagriha. The people are those who live with the Venerable Pilindavatsa, and the close monks. The affliction is gluttony. The offense is accumulation. To this, the Bhagavan

འདས་ཀྱིས་ཞེས་བྱ་བ་ནི་ means "past," which refers to the Tathagata, Arhat, Perfectly Enlightened Buddha. དགེ་སློང་ཞེས་བྱ་བ་ནི་ means "bhikshu," which refers to the holder of this Dharma. ན་བ་རྣམས་ལ་ཞེས་བྱ་བ་ནི་ means "to the sick," which refers to patients. ཕན་པ་ཞེས་བྱ་བ་ནི་ means "beneficial," which refers to being in accordance. སོ་སོར་བསྟེན་པར་བྱ་བའི་ཞེས་བྱ་བ་ནི་ means "to be used separately," which refers to being permissible. སྨན་གང་དག་བཀའ་སྩལ་པ་འདི་ལྟ་སྟེ་ཞེས་བྱ་བ་ནི་ means "those medicines that were spoken of," which refers to being extremely useful. ཞུན་མར་ཞེས་བྱ་བ་ནི་ means "refined butter," which refers to melted butter. འབྲུ་མར་ཞེས་བྱ་བ་ནི་ means "grain butter," which refers to grain butter itself. སྦྲང་རྩི་ཞེས་བྱ་བ་ནི་ means "honey," which refers to the honey of bees. བུ་རམ་གྱི་དབུ་བ་ཞེས་བྱ་བ་ནི་ means "molasses," which refers to syrup. དེ་དག་ལས་ཞེས་བྱ་བ་ནི་ means "from those," which refers to from those that were spoken of. དགེ་སློང་ཞེས་བྱ་བ་ནི་ means "bhikshu," which refers to whichever bhikshu it is. ན་བས་ཞེས་བྱ་བ་ནི་ means "by the sick," which refers to the patient. འདོད་ན་ཞེས་བྱ་བ་ནི་ means "if desired," which refers to if it is needed. རང་གིས་ཞེས་བྱ་བ་ནི་ means "by oneself," which refers to by oneself. ཞག་བདུན་པར་བྱིན་གྱིས་ད་རླབས་ཏེ། ཞེས་བྱ་བ་ནི་ means "consecrated for seven days," which refers to seven days and nights. གསོག་འཇོག་གིས་ཡོངས་སུ་ལོངས་སྤྱད་པས་ཡོངས་སུ་ལོངས་སྤྱད་པར་བྱའོ་ཞེས་བྱ་བ་ནི་ means "having enjoyed by hoarding, one should enjoy," which refers to taking it oneself and eating it. དེ་ལས་འདས་པར་ཡོངས་སུ་ལོངས་སྤྱོད་པར་བྱེད་ན་ཞེས་བྱ་བ་ནི་ means "if one enjoys beyond that," which refers to beyond seven days. སྤང་པའི་ལྟུང་བྱེད་དོ་ཞེས་བྱ་བ་ནི་ means "it is a Nissaggiya Pacittiya," which refers to abandoning that object and confessing the offense of Nissaggiya Pacittiya, therefore it is said to be a Nissaggiya Pacittiya. How then does an offense occur? Here also, the characteristics of this should be understood through the establishment of offenses by the main basis and the auxiliary, and the auxiliary of the auxiliary, and the absence of offense, and what should be learned, and the remedies. Here, the establishment of the main basis of the offense is that if a bhikshu, holding medicine consecrated for seven days for the purpose of eating it, the eighth dawn arises, it is the main basis of the Nissaggiya Pacittiya of hoarding. In this case, there are different doctrinal views among the Vinaya holders regarding the establishment of the offenses of the main basis and the auxiliary. In the past, the teacher Dharmamitra of the Sarvastivada school, one of the many Vinaya holders, in his commentary on the extensive Vinaya Sutra, said that a bhikshu holding medicine consecrated for seven days, and food that is not suitable for eating, and food that is suitable for the time, and offenses that are suitable for the time, for the purpose of eating, is hoarding.
