One should learn not to rely on all the things that should be abandoned, which are transformed from everything that is said. In any place, if a monk lives alone and a donor offers what is obtained for the sake of the Sangha, then that monk should bless what is obtained alone. Without the harm of enemy armies and thieves, etc., one should not carelessly abandon the monastery. Any monk who is attached to that monastery should not appoint a guardian there. If a nun comes there, the monk who appointed the guardian should spend ten years in that monastery. When that monk stays there for ten years, five years should be spent begging for alms. If a donor does not appear on time, then another five years should be spent living together with nearby monasteries, sharing their livelihood. If that monk is to leave that monastery, the objects should be entrusted to nearby monasteries. If monks come to the abandoned monastery and settle there, then those monks living in other nearby monasteries should return the bedding, utensils, and other objects to that monastery. If those objects entrusted to other monasteries are not found in that monastery and are not returned, then the monks who initially placed them there should search for them and return them. Even if that donor is the owner of that monastery and other places, he should not transfer the objects previously offered to that monastery to other places or give them away. If that donor does not return those objects to the monastery to which they were previously offered, then they should be taken back by the power of the monks living in that monastery. Objects from other places should only be given as loans. Objects from other places should not be given to other places; the allocation of what is obtained should be determined as it has been ascertained. In those cases, due to the request of the Brahmin's daughter who was a monk, in any place where a monk lives alone, if a donor offers what is obtained for the sake of the Sangha, then that monk should bless what is obtained alone. If one takes possession of it without blessing it, there is an offense.

It is said that the ritual and mantra for blessing the gains obtained alone are as follows: I dwell here, abiding alone. The Sangha has obtained this garment, and I shall make use of this garment. Bless it in due time, generate this thought three times, and also speak it in words. At that time, a Bhikshuni, the daughter of a Brahmin, asked, "If the owner of the monastery is killed, bound, dead, or expelled, the Bhikshus should not abandon the monastery. A guardian should be placed in the monastery for the Bhikshu who has great attachment to it. If the Sangha and the patrons arrive in due time, then that Bhikshu should spend five years begging for alms. For another five years, he should live together with the nearby monastery, sharing the livelihood. The gains of that monastery and the nearby monastery are common, but the Uposatha should be performed separately." This is how it should be done: After arranging the place, he should strike the Ghaṇṭā and admonish the Bhikshus with words of inquiry, so that all the Sangha may abide and be in harmony. One Bhikshu should make a request and then proceed. This is how it should be done: After abiding, he should say this: "Venerable Sangha, please listen. The owner of this monastery has been killed, bound, dead, or expelled. If the time of the Sangha has come and it is tolerable, then please grant permission to the Sangha, and the Sangha will share the gains of this monastery and Pābi for five years, but the Uposatha will be performed separately." This is the request. The procedure is as follows: "Venerable Sangha, please listen. The owner of this monastery has been killed, bound, dead, or expelled. Therefore, the Sangha will share the gains of this monastery and Pābi for five years, but the Uposatha will be performed separately. Those of you who are venerable and tolerate the Sangha sharing the gains of this monastery and Pābi for five years, but performing the Uposatha separately, should remain silent. Those who do not tolerate it should speak." The Sangha tolerates and grants permission. The Sangha will this.
