After praising the merit of economizing on utensils in discipline, he preached to the monks teachings that were in accordance with this, mostly the same as this, in accordance with this, and possessed of the Dharma, and instructed the monks, saying: O monks, therefore, the former was prohibited, and this is permitted. My hearers should recite the basis of learning in discipline as follows: If any monk who is not ill touches or causes to be touched fire for himself, he commits a downfall. The place of permission is Rajagriha (built in the mid-6th century BC, near Patna, Bihar today). The persons are many monks and patients who have great faith in this Dharma. There is no affliction or fault. Among them, "any monk" refers to the group of six or others like them. "Not ill" means excluding the case of being sick. "For himself" means for his own sake. "Touching fire" means touching it himself. "Causing to be touched" means having someone else touch it. "Committing a downfall" means the same as before. So, how does a downfall occur? Here, by means of the actual basis, the preparation, and the preparation of the preparation, the downfall is determined, as well as the absence of downfall, what should be learned, and the remedies, in order to understand the characteristics of this. Among them, the determination of the downfall of the actual basis is that a monk plays with fire, transmits fire to others, makes moons, suns, torch wheels, etc., and in order to make the teacher, the Dharma, the Sangha, and those who practice chastity possess the Dharma, or like examining the work of bowls and dyes, for a monk who has not been blessed, not being in a state of illness, abandoning, killing, touching fire, urging untouched firewood, leading with fire, urging, piling up firewood, digging, not blowing out the flames, putting firewood into the flames, taking it out, whether doing it himself or ordering others to do it, will constitute the actual basis of the downfall of touching fire. There is no fault for a nun to play with fire. "Playing with fire" means in what way? Therefore it is said, transmitting fire to others, making moons, suns, torch wheels, etc. Transmitting fire to others means
