It was prophesied that he would become a Buddha named 'Fear-Giving'. Then, the Blessed One agreed to spend the night in a monastery in a deserted village. The Blessed One said, "We should also use old and weak trees for firewood." The group of six monks found a hollow tree, and they lit the hollow tree with cold firewood. A poisonous snake lived in the hollow tree, and it was disturbed by the smoke, so it climbed to the upper branches and hung there. When the group of six monks saw it, they said, "It's coming! It's coming!" The merchants who were doing business heard it and thought, "A lion is coming!" They were frightened and scattered in all directions. Then, the Blessed One said to the Venerable Ananda, "Ananda, why are these merchants who are doing business scattering in all directions?" The Venerable Ananda explained the situation in detail. The Blessed One said, "Ananda, go and tell those merchants who are doing business that the Tathagata is free from the fear of lions, so come back!" The Venerable Ananda told them this and then returned. The group of six monks frightened the group of merchants who were doing business, causing them to scatter in all directions. The Blessed One took advantage of this opportunity to sigh. The Blessed One told a story from the past: Once upon a time, there were six rabbits by a lake, in a dense grove of bilva trees. When a bilva fruit fell into the lake with a 'splash' sound, the six rabbits heard it and they started to run away. Foxes, monkeys, deer, pigs, buffaloes, rhinoceroses, elephants, bears, brown bears, wolves, tigers, and wild cats heard it in turn, and they also started to run away. Not far from the six rabbits, there was a lion with a mane like a crest, and it turned around and sighed. The six rabbits were the group of six monks, and the large group of deer, including the foxes, who were frightened and scattered, were the merchants. The lion with a mane like a crest sighed at the large group of deer who were frightened and scattered

He also gave the teaching that he was the Tathagata. That happened for a while. The Buddha, the Bhagavan, did not establish the basis of learning for the Shravakas for the purpose of taming for a while. The reason for the enactment is that the Bhagavan then said to the venerable Ananda: Ananda, go and tell the monks and merchants that none of you should go before me to reach a consensus. The Tathagata himself will go before the consensus. After the venerable Ananda had announced this, the Tathagata himself went before the consensus. After a while, a lion with a mane like a crest, fierce, came before the Bhagavan. The Bhagavan conjured up five lions with manes like crests in the palm of his right hand, and the lion smelled the scent of those lions, and began to flee in terror. The Bhagavan conjured up fire in the four directions. The lion saw the four directions burning, burning fiercely, the flames merging into one, burning. He saw that it was only at the feet of the Bhagavan that it was peaceful, so he touched the feet of the Bhagavan. The Bhagavan touched his head with his hand, which was connected with the wheel, auspiciousness, Yungdrung, and net, which arose from countless merits, and which dispelled fears, and said: Good face, you were born in the animal realm because of your previous misdeeds. You are now fierce, your hands are red, you are involved in beating and violent beating, taking the lives of others, causing others to kill, or living by killing. What will become of your going after you die from here? What will become of your birth? What will become of your future life? Good face, thus, all conditioned phenomena are impermanent. All dharmas are without self. Nirvana is peace. After teaching the Dharma with these three words, he said: Good face, you should generate joy and faith, and in this way you will be freed from desire in the animal realm. Monks, when that lion is touched, it makes a sound. Then
