Also with swords, daggers, single-edged swords, double-edged swords, spears, slings, water knives, blades of grass, ropes, bundles of rope, and so on. To illustrate the boundaries of these three, it is said, even if intending to strike with a toe or mustard seed, or grass, etc. The internal grasping, even a toe; the external throwing, even a mustard seed; possessing both, even intending to strike with grass, etc.? Even striking with something smaller than that, there is no fault. If, after intending to strike, when it hits and touches, is that when it becomes the actual deed? Or is it at the time of intending to strike? Therefore, it is said, merely intending, using those things to strike the body, etc., merely intending is without fault. If there are many instruments of intention, will it become one transgression? No. Therefore, it is said, for each object, for each object intended to be struck, it will become one transgression, for example, one transgression for each finger, one transgression for each mustard seed, one transgression for each blade of grass, like that there is no fault. The agent here is the bhikkhu who intends to strike the other person, and whatever object is intended. Here, with five limbs, it becomes a transgression of the actual deed: having a mind of annoyance; the bhikkhu intending to strike the other person; the body intended to be struck or what is thrown by it, or anything related to it; the object intended, even a toe or a mustard seed, or anything smaller than grass; and having begun the intention. If any of those limbs are missing, there will be a fault accordingly. The transgression of the preparatory act is a misdeed, as long as the preparatory act of the transgression of intending has begun, until it does not touch the actual deed, it is a misdeed. For the preparatory act of the actual deed, however many different preparatory acts are done, each preparatory act is a misdeed. Having a mind of annoyance, being angry, agitated, arrogant, not having dissatisfaction itself, is a misdeed. The bhikkhu who intends to strike the other person, is a fallen one and a non-attached one, this is a misdeed. Bhikkhunis and this Dharma...

A male or female renunciate who has not received full ordination commits an offense of wrongdoing. A renunciate of an outsider and a householder, a human being, commits an offense of wrongdoing. If a non-human being and a domestic animal are harmed, it is blameworthy. If one intends to strike oneself, it is an offense of wrongdoing. If one intends to strike a pillar, a wall, the ground, a tree, or anything else, it is an offense of wrongdoing. The combination of combinations of offenses is a minor offense of wrongdoing. As many combinations as there are, so many combinations of combinations there are. The combination of offenses of wrongdoing is also an offense of wrongdoing, that is, a minor offense of wrongdoing. There is no offense in removing defilements and intending to practice the knowledge-mantra of thunderbolts. There is no offense in intending to cut down trees and strike the ground, etc., due to necessity. There is no offense for a beginner, a madman, one who is mentally disturbed, or one who is afflicted by feelings. What is to be learned is that a bhikshu should learn not to engage in all kinds of actions that would lead to an offense of downfall in all places and at all times. Intending to strike is one thing, but one should not intend to strike others or other things. One should not intend to strike a pillar. One should not intend to strike a wall, the ground, a tree, or a door, etc. The remedy is the same as before. The forty-ninth offense of downfall regarding intending to strike has been explained. The basis for the offense of concealing a bad dwelling is that the Buddha, the Bhagavan, was dwelling in Jeta Grove, Anathapindika's Garden in Shravasti. A bhikshu named Dharma, who lived with Ananda, was conscientious, remorseful, restrained, and desirous of learning. As long as he did not know that the bad dwelling was being universally practiced, he lived with Ananda. When he knew that the bad dwelling was being universally practiced, he began to live with the bhikshus who were naturally dwelling there, and he only went to pay homage to their feet three times a day according to the Bhagavan's command. He went to Ananda and asked, "Venerable Abbot, may I use the umbrella?" When Ananda heard this, he said, "Son Dharma, take my mat and go!" He took his mat
